Thanks for the video. 109 kph is 67.7 mph which was the highest speed I saw on the smartphone display. There seems to be the noise of a Diesel. You don't hear that on Amtrak long distance trains, but there is almost always a baggage car between the locomotive and the passenger cars. The ride seemed fairly smooth. I never heard of the Motive Power passenger locomotives until I looked up the model MP36PH-3C. It seems to be an EMD based passenger locomotive until tier 4 Diesel emissions were too difficult for the brilliant EMD 2-cycle prime mover to achieve.

That speed must be in kilometes as top speed on that line is 70mps for MARC trains.

I cannot believe how long it takes to St. Denis! (Does this train even stop at St. Denis?)

impressive. your listed 'Points of interest' is considerably more accurate than most. i have just a few _adjustments_ . 3:42 *West portal* the B&O/Chessie/CSX runs east& west. 7:40 *Carroll* has 2 Rs 50:05 *East Wye* 51:00 JD & the *WEST WYE* to the Alexandria otherwise, most impressive!

Riding that trip in the cab car is a LOT more fun since you get the full effect of the horn and bells.

At 40:52 why is there a line running from the D.C. metro rail to the main line?
@jg-7780

Probably to easily get new trains or maintenance equipment into the system without using awkward/complicated cranes and/or flatbed trucks

Not surprising; I did this trip (both directions) in 2000. DC Union Station OR MARC New Carrolton MD to Baltimore Penn Station (depends on if I was going home or not). If I was going home, it was MARC New Carrolton; if I was headed back to Baltimore, it was DC Union Station that was one endpoint. Both DC Union Station and MARC New Carrolton MD are also WMATA subway stations. Baltimore Penn Station connects to both MTA light rail and MTA transit bus
