Among the contemporary singers, these sisters are the best. They don't try unnecessary gimmicks to get applause. They sing for themselves not for the stage, that's why none of their performances are below the standard. To get 100 out of 100 is not an easy thing but these sisters do. So far I have heard as many as 15 kutcheries only as I am in Hyderabad. I wish to be in Chennai my native to attend all their concerts but age doesn't permit me. Their voice reminds me of NC Vasanthakokilam. Simply beautiful.
I can relate sir. Residing in a small city in Western Canada, I look forward to the day I can spend a festival season in Chennai attending as many concerts as possible.

Sir, yes, they do not try gimmicks - and I think that is why their music is so charming. Bhava is inherent in the svara; and if correctly rendered, nothing more is required to bring out the essence of the bhava as well as the raga.
@@eastexotic Do it sir, I used to fly my mother to Chennai every December till age prevented her travelling and none of us children could accompany her. She used to come back to Mumbai so happy! . Do it atleast once, I know the distance is much farther , but these masters will not be there forever. I pray that you are able to do so! No joy so pure as that given by music!

I would like to see Ranjani doing more alaap, I can recognize their voices, I like them both, however on the last few alaaps I heard they were all by Gayathri, Ranjani voice has a certain texture that is incredible to hear on its own periodically, like at the start of this alaap. In any case I think the sisters are the next vidushi's and maestros of carnatic, please keep it up.
Can listen to this song any number of times. One of my mother Smt Rajyalakshmi favorite. She would sing with such grace in front of the God after the Pooja and on festival days

Great singing. But, may I point out to a correction? The sisters sing it as 'hari hrudyaa veshineem' (at 18.30) . It should be 'hari hrudaya vaasineem'.
Very lengthy, lot of repetitive of sancharams, many times. Probably thi s recording is from a 4hour concert, features in music season, especially under kalarasana banner.
I have attended their concerts which were great. But it wouldnt have been so enchanting without the fantastic performance by the violin, mridanga and ghatam artists. They are must for all the musicians , still they are never given the recognition they deserve. Try to conduct a concert without them. Those instruments are like God for us. We worship them. Yet this is the way we treat them.
The sisters are great, blessed souls But you have not even mentioned the name of the accompanying musicians? Are they not talented and worked hard to master their instruments? I don't know when the people change this attitude. This is very disappointing for these artists. You heap appreciation on the main singers, say just few lines about the accompanying musicians as if they are not important.

@@nkrama thanks. At least you have responded so soon. This has been my experience for decades. In few concerts the accompanying artists left without taking their garlands and fruit bowl, crestfallen.
