The owner says this table is skipping - we quickly find the reason and boy does it need service too. Also, a trick to adjust speed on a non-adjustable mechanism.

Great to see you back. The electronic scales weigh to just over 5g. Mine came with a 5g weight used to calibrate it. So I reckon that cartridge was tracking at 5.5g plus. I was working on a turntable recently which had a similar issue of skipping. I knew the cueing height was OK as I checked it off the platter and it was dropping below the level of the platter. I increased the tracking weight to see what happened. It still skipped. I was scratching my head at what the problem was until I got down level and looked sideways on the headshell whilst it was on the record. I had changed the cartridge and one of the cartridge wires was looped down and just touching the record enough to cause the skipping. Pushed the wire more up into the headshell and problem resolved. It's always the simple fixes :-)

Fantastic video. My fiance's marantz 6025 has been lying around on a shelf. I took it down and flwed your instructions and found out that I need a cartridge model Sure m95 and the belt is melted to the underside of the metal turn table. Need to clean that up, clean the spindle, grease the areas you did and order a new belt. What belt type/model would you suggest? Also on the top left side looking down, I see a black dial it looks like..it has the make marantz and an arrow and nbr 12 & 16. What is this dial for?

That "dial" is probably the 45 record adapter. As for belts, check out thakker.eu

Your videos are great and funny too.I have a Marantz 6110 that i've had since '79 and i was wondering what type of oil you use for the motor. .Also, the auto return only works if i manually move the tone arm almost all the way to the spindle.Otherwise the tone arm won't return on it's own.The reject lever works fine though.

Hello! I've got a marantz TT240 and towards the end of the last song, before it finishes, the arm lifts up and looks like it's going towards the beginning position but it stops at the middle of the record and sits down playing the song. Ever heard about this kind of issue?

Check for dried grease.

Outstanding video. I have a 1972 Marantz 6025 turntable complete with Handbook of Instructions and the Technical Specifications sheet. I need a new belt. The original belt has now disintergrated. Nowhere in the documentation does it tell me what length of belt I need. When I measure the circumference of the turntable deck, I get 94.5 cms or 37.25 inches. Do you know of a reliable supplier? Thanks in advance for your help.

Can't go wrong with LP Gear or Thakker. Any reputable online retailer will have the correct belt - just tell them the make and model.

I had 2 of them in the early 80s, loved Marantz back in the day but that turntable was a very cheap model. 😊

turns out i dont go along well with turntables. ;) Got a new belt, pickup installed, setup the turntable with the right pressure, protractor for alignement. Still it skips on every track and in the exact spots on every record. Tore down the turntable and lubed up the spindle aswell as the acmotor. Turned my eye to the arm and the bearing in the arm is loose as a swedish tourist in ibiza. All over the place. So im guessing my turntable is shot to h*** sadly. Thought i´d let u know the outcome. :)
