I have a 6300 myself. I had it serviced. I just needed a new strobe light and a good cleaning. Hopefully I’ll get another 45 years of use out of it. But, wait…. I’m not going to around another 45 years. But, you get my point. 😊😊

You just inspired me last night to try and fix my my Marantz 6200...had a loose pitch knob and wouldn't hold pitch at all. Turns out it was a loose nut....and I was about to send it off to a repair man. Saved myself some time and money. Thanks for the video.

You should post in the description that the music is being broadcasted free over the airwaves and in no part is a copy right infringement as par of the repair and testing process. This gets RU-vid off you ass. As they use software to scan for it. It's not a human. That or speed up the track just enough it can't notice it.
The 6300 came out in late 1975 and was made for three years. In my opinion of of the most attractive TTs ever made. Performance was on par with other direct drives of the period with perhaps a bit of an edge over some due to it's somewhat more rugged construction.
Awesome! Three totally different Blueglow videos in the same weekend all with their own merits. I sure would like to see a good thorough restoration of a MAC 1700. Mine is sitting on my bench awaiting my attention. I've watched around 95% of your videos including your EE 101 series. I always learn something or at least a new twist on things. Very informative video, thanks ! Subscribed... I own on of these 6300 since the late 70's and apart the auto-shutoff's "electronic eye" (still cant find the part), with regular maintenance it as worked flawlessly... Regards, Dan

I went above and beyond on my Akai AP307 I installed new caps it fixed issues with startup delay and hum didn't lube the motor it's moves freely it turns using pulses instead of constant rotation great quality well built only payed 200$
I've seen other people say that because the electrolytic capacitors in a turntable are not exposed to high frequencies that they should be okay after 30+ years. In my experience in fixing turntables I find some of the caps are off or leaky (especially the blue Sanyo caps from the 70's/early 80's). Simply because they have not been exposed to high frequencies over a long period of time does not mean they will be okay today. As shown they will degrade mechanically and start leaking corrosive electrolyte, depending on the age/brand/cap series/use of the unit. The safest solution is to replace the electrolytics if they are the originals and are 30+ years old. The advantage is the new units usually will be smaller at the same or higher voltage and will be better long term due to advances in technology.
Agreed about the oil. I buy turbine oil for the long spout. At 2 bucks, I go several years. I did use 2 stroke oil on a 1/4 HP motor, it worked great. Capacitors, Yes the years are ticking by. I was a teenager when that came out. I cannot accept your deduction of it being 40 years old. LOL
Excellent video. May I add a bit of info. please (I've owned this TT for 40 years): please refer to timing 17:40 where the flywheel is removed from the motor for cleaning. The moderator correctly stated that THIS flywheel has no ball bearing at the bottom of the flywheel shaft, but other companies did include one (so don't tip the TT over and lose it). However, this ball bearing/flywheel setup exists on my model 6300. I noticed it 35 years ago when the first lubrication was done, and I heard it rolling around at the bottom of the shaft. In this case, you must tip the TT over with your hand over the shaft hole, catch the ball bearing, and then clean/oil that area. Thank you.

My old 6300 is in near mint cosmetic and working condition EXCEPT the darn optical sensor setup that controls the auto shutoff is stone dead (not a matter of adjusting the sensor position on its little track). Nobody will touch this repair job (obviously no parts available). Do you know of anybody? Thanks!
Great video! What were the values on the caps you replaced? I'm ready to replace them on two 6300 restorations I'm working on and want to order them as soon as possible. Also, one of the turntables slows down occasionally, Anyone know what that could be?
I have a Marantz 6100 that wont make any sound. soldered new rca jacks on to the speaker wires, pluged into my amp and nothing, no sound. the internal wires all seem to be soldered well still. any suggestions? everything else works fine. just put a new stylus on and now im bummed.
Hi great videos I've been learning a lot from them. I have a quick scenario to run by you I have a technics sl-230 turntable and it has constant unstable speed issues. It has new belt and the user speed adj pots and trim pots have been cleaned with deoxit lots of times and it will play for a day or so then speed will go out of adj again. Can it be a capacitor in the circuit or the motor itself? I can't see why after cleaning the pots really well it still continues to have speed issues. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you
Is there a difference in use deoxit vs regular contact cleaner bought from a hardware store? I always hear how deoxit is amazing, but is it better then other contact cleaner?? Is it worth paying the extra cash? I have an old denon dp55 turntable and I worried that if one of the caps go could it destroy my turntable? Thanks so much for any help
Great video.. very useful. My service issue is a no longer properly dampened tone arm lift . The up and down buttons trigger an action, but the lifter pops up dramatically and descends the same way. Inside it looks like some sort of solenoid moderates the action. is this were the issue is? If so what is the fix. thanks for any help you can offer. D
I am currently recapping a Marantz 6300. One of the wires disconected from the post on the board. I noticed that the bare part of the wire was wrapped around the post about 6 times. Is there a reason for that? Can I just solder the wire directly to the post? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi my name is Tom maybe you can help me out. I have Technics SL-1300 turntable that will power up ( the strobe light comes on but the platter dose not spine like its not getting any power. I have cleaned all of the speed adjusters with Detoxit and still no spinning. I would love to get my TT going again. Thanks for any help
Dear Blueglow commentator: please refer to timing 13:16 on your video, where you point out the two pitch control potentiometers, and then clean them with DeOxit D5. I've done that exact same cleaning on my 6300, and found that the even the tiny blast of DeOxit D5 had washed away the black grease that lubricated the little shafts on the rotary pots. Now, the shafts turn with no resistance or "feel" (no shaft lubricant), but electrically, the pots do work better because they are clean. How do I safely re-lubricate the shafts: use another DeOxit product (lubricant only)? Please advise, thank you!
Hi, nice video. I live at Brazil and I have a Marantz TT-6000 and it in the middle of operation, the rpm comes to variate a little bit. Any thought on it? Tks.
Being the 6100 is an Auto Return model, the symptom you describe could be the trip arm/cam is binding at the last part of the record causing the arm to stick or not advance with the groove. You will need to open up the machine and check that the Auto Return linkage is not binding or the grease hasn't become gummed up.
The 6300 was one of CEC's finest models offered under the Marantz name plate. Still an outstanding machine by today's standards when properly serviced!!!
Ooops! I guess I should have watched this video BEFORE I got DeoxIT all over that optical sensor that triggers the tone arm lift mechanism in my 6300...I was attempting to fix the "auto lift" feature, which has not worked routinely/reliably for a couple years now.
The only reason I don't like to use auto engine oil is that it has additives for cleaning combustion by-products which are not needed in bearing lubrication. I prefer a light sewing machine oil.
Not trying to debate what you are doing but I've found the synthetic motor oil to hold up much better over time. I used sewing machine oil for years but then after 5-8 years customers would bring back their units and it was as gummed up as the original factory oil. I do admit though I've only been using the synthetic motor oil about 7 years so I haven't seen a lot of return units.
Interesting. I suppose someone in your position would need the longest lasing lubricant possible. I change out my tables oil every few years, so longevity is not a concern.
