I have had the PM8006 for 3 years now. A few minor negatives: the remote volume control is not smooth especially at lower levels (meaning a small tap can not move it at all or make a big jump), the remote does not work for the tone controls which makes fine tuning from your listening position impossible, and you can not see the volume level on the knob the indent should be light.

Agree with every point. Do you think that the pure button option improves the stereo soundstage but slightly lifts the treble? I’m linked to a pair of MA Radius 90s each having its own REL T Zero using the high level output. As the MAs have a very high resolution C Cam metal dome tweeter going up into crazy Hz level the set up can sound a bit too precise and very revealing. Great with top end recordings and full hi res lossless especially full MQA etc. fine with vinyl as that part compensates for the frequency fall off but a bit overpowering for some classical (trumpets/triangles etc). I tend to prefer using the brilliant tone controls, especially the mid which is perfect for opera and vocals from basses to sopranos.

Does your Marantz 8006 headphone jack sound good enough that you DO NOT need an external headphone amplifier?
@andrewcrossley2448
@andrewcrossley2448 Год назад
@@spiritualarchitect4276 it’s very good but quite powerful. It’s too much power for my Beyer 900 x pro monitoring phones for example and possibly for my AT 50MXs. Suggest you test it out.

@@andrewcrossley2448 Does your Marantz amp supply enough bass for your headphones? I decided to go the separates way and bought a Topping A90 headphone amp for my Stellia and Marantz CD player. But there was not enough bass, so I bought a Lokius. Still not enough bass, so yesterday I bought a Topping D90 DAC. If that does not give me enough bass, I may have to return those three and try your Marantz amp.

I have had the PM8003 for years and happily admit to being a “fanboy”. See no reason to upgrade. I love the Marantz “house sound”. You describe it as slightly dark but I view it as warm yet detailed and very well balanced. In no way is it “bright” and has never fatigued after my usual hour(s) of daily listening. Speakers: Wharfedale Diamonds (for that classic British speaker sound) and ancient but very loved B&W 600 S3 bookshelfs. Excellent review.

Does produce deep bass?
@amolmanthekar
@amolmanthekar 8 месяцев назад
Yes, it does. I'm using it with Linton Heritage speakers, combination is warm as both amplifier and speakers are warm sounding. But the amplifier really does a good job in driving them producing deep bass I hope this helps.

For pure sound do you prefer the 40n over this? I noticed the 8006 weight is a good bit more than the 40n. I'm wondering if their sacd streaming player would pair better with the 8006 or 40n.

Hi, I have a sr6005, and that was my first hifi buy.. took me a long time to research.. I brought it to my home in India. It sounded beautiful. I grew up listening to a Sansui that my dad brought home. I loved it. Somehow I believe SR6005 has much more circuitry than I need.. I just want to go old school like my dad where I have a pre amp and a power amp and good speakers.. btw I have energy and Pioneer speakers tower with marantz. What do you recommend? I don't care abt Dolby Atmos nonsense.. I just want to listen to some warm music. Thank you 🙏

Question, I have this Marantz PM 8006 and I would like to know how to connect my Lyngdorf TDAI-1120. Should I hook my Lyngdorf in Pre-Amp on the Marantz or in the Power Amplifier? And do I hook-up my turn table on the Marantz or the Lyngdorf? The reason is that I want to use the Lyngdorf because of the Room Perfect settings. Thank you!
@GramophoneMD

I wouldn't connect the Lygndorf to the Marantz, as the Lyngdorf is already the better piece through and through.

Dears. I have this amp PM8006 with CD Player Marantz CD6007. I would like to add loudspeaker, but the place is a little place so no Floorstand speaker, but bookshelf speaker positioned on stand. What do you suggest?. I hear first Jazz Music, in particular Big Band music, then classical music and Progressive rock (like Yes, Genesis). I have seen the QACOSTICS 3030i. What do you think ? THank you

Thanks for the review. I have one and an N1711 AV and the CD 6007. Works well and looks superb. One comment. You said if bi wired you get 70w x 2 per speaker. Don’t think that’s quite right. Think it sends lower power to the tweeter and most to the woofer, as preferred. I’m going to demo the 706 and 707 with the amp so may try bi wiring.
@GramophoneMD
@GramophoneMD Год назад
The tweeter would never demand such power therefore it won't happen, however the amp itself is perfectly capable of doing so if the speaker/driver demanded it.

I just bought it... Sold my Mcintosh MC 250.. I miss the Mcintosh... I have had the Marantz 2010, 2240.2265b,23235 and the 2385///// The PM is no where near the classic or the mc... sorry.. to be honest.. I just hooked this up.. Ill do another after I have listened a while.. Who is the NERD. who put Speaker B ON TOP????? NOT TO mention the CONFUSION OF WHERE YOU PUT THE PRE AMP INTO THE UNIT IF YOU WANT TO USE THIS AS JUST AN AMP..

Its more like a "contemporary" classic. It is Class A/B, it has a decent power supply, and I do like it for the price in today's context, but a Saul Marantz receiver it is not, and certainly not a Mac.

@@GramophoneMD Could a headphone amplifier be connected to the Marantz PM8006 using it’s “Pre Out” jacks? If so, to add a sub-woofer, would an A-B switch box be needed to connect both head amp and sub to the "Pre Out" jacks? Or can the Marantz “Audio Out Recorder” jacks be used for an external amp or sub?

I just bought this amp and I am blown away from the sound... this is my 3rd system in my 15 x16 audio room.. I have paired this amp with ADS speakers that are probably 40 yrs old, speaker cable are Tellurium Q blue, 6N OCC RCA interconnects Cables, SKW power cable.. My source is Marantz CD6007 player. I'm hearing tones and instruments from cds that I've played on my other systems I've never heard before, it's incredible.. Wow!!.. I have a Denon PMA 1600NE integrated amp and the 1600 SACD , Musician Knight one speakers with Viborg cables , I've played the same cd on that system and never heard the melody that coming from the PM 8006.. I'm loving this!!!

Can i run a bose 901 eq trought the amp direct in and pre amp out ?
@GramophoneMD
@GramophoneMD 8 месяцев назад
Hello Shawn, perhaps not. The Marantz specs page for this unit lists pre-out, but not main in - www.marantz.com/en-us/product/amplifiers/pm8006. They list "power amp direct in" but that might mean running your EQ results in no power. You might try the Marantz tech support contact: support.marantz.com

There is no dedicated sub out, as this is following a more legacy/old fashioned design language. However you can still connect a sub that has a built in crossover via the pre-outs.
