Man i'm so obsessed with this game since September. This all sounds like a dream game for me. I even had a few dreams about how the game drops and I'm playing it lol. Great video btw, can't wait for new, subscribed!

See my biggest hope here is that perhaps maybe we get some old Marathon weapons like I want the Super Magnum. Hopefully the game is slower paced and not another slide around double jumping fuckery
They for sure gotta add some old guns, such a cool thing to be remade 30 years later and being able to see its reincarnation. And yeah i agree, although I want GOOD movement, a zoom fest will detract heavily
@@bonnuuoq hell if the devs want to really make a throw back let momentum effect the player movements even when running so you can full sprint and punch a dude instantly killing them.
OG Marathon was interesting because the movement is incredibly fast but the combat was so unforgiving you'd often stay at a corner to peek fight for minutes when you got there

My biggest fear is still the hero shooter leak. If that’s the case I’m not even downloading, it’s not what they described the game being. I’m tired of OW style games, and that just seems so strange for an extraction shooter. Great composure and editing!
@@bonnuuoq someone else also pointed out that HUNT Showdown, another extraction shooter, utilizes characters in a selection pool. And HUNT is like, one of the best extraction shooters sooo
What overwatch style games are we talking about? I’m genuinely curious as so far hero shooter I’ve been “games that play nothing like over watch but get compared to overwatch”
I'll be so disappointed if it's a hero shooter. It's not a 1:1 comparison, but: Battlefield 2042 had such a good reveal window until they revealed the removal of the class system in favor of operators/heroes. Yeah, a lot of the backlash was because of how buggy it was, but what really killed BF2042 were the foundational changes to a classic formula. It's somewhat fixed now, but 2042 still hasn't recovered. Marathon, at its core, was a rich sci-fi universe. I hope that the tone still holds that gritty richness that made the originals such interesting games. If it is tonally similar, I could see a hero shooter working (begrudgingly).
@RememberTheDuck Hahahaha, I played 2042 on launch, and yeah, I do agree, I really do not believe that marathon, if at all, will have typical "hero's". And I'm currently writing another video and found a quote in which someone working on the game described gamplay as "it's brutal kill-or-be-killed squad combat" so hopefully nothing like the cringe we see in games like concord
Great video, it was well edited. I theorize that the social hub will be on the ship Equanimity. The ARG states that is the ship that the Biomata and Runners are being transported in. I also theorize that the Marathon will be one of the three maps that we will get to travel to. Simply because of the fact that the Runners job is to investigate what happened to the Marathon and the colony. I could just imagine searching through the dark hallways of the Marathon and running into Pfhor forces such as the fake bobs and drones. I could also imagine how beautiful the atmosphere must look with dark hallways only being lite with the moon light from the windows of the ship and flickering lights
Honestly I share all the same beliefs on how the game might work. I too and just hoping for more details soon. I feel like the game market will greatly appreciate it
@j_note Forreal, I know that devs tend to over hype their games, but if any game is to live up to its hype, i think it will be marathon and bungie or atleast I hope so! hahah
@@bonnuuoq Most definitely, Bungie is one developer that I trust whole heartedly. The way they build universes is amazing. They truly care about their craft, though they are not perfect they are one developer I trust. I know there are so many people scared or wish bad on this game. But Bungie is one developer that does extremely well with their backs against the wall. We just have to trust them. They already have delivered a wonderful ARG with tons of care for the story
Ngl I was hoping this game was going to focus equally on story and multiplayer like they did with halo and destiny guess we’ll have to see, if it’s not a hero shooter I’ll check it out
Well Bungie probably doesn’t want overlap of their properties and we know that Destiny 2’s Heresy episode will probably come out in February based on 3 4 month episodes. I think they will want some time between the end of Episodes and whatever Frontiers will be which is also supposed to come out in 2025. So, June seems like a good guess for Marathon which would then give Bungie from July-December to release D2 Frontiers.
Great video, where did you get all this information from? I love it. I think Bungie should try to release Marathon during the summer/fall of 2025. ( Earlier would be amazing) But they should avoid any release for Nov/Dec, that's likely when GTA6 is coming out. @jemstar33 Thanks! i made the timeline for release a while ago and with new info like the PS5 pro rumours that timeline is probably not right, I agree and think that there is a fairly high chance that we could get a gamplay reveal in September coinciding with the ps5 pro release
I love the look, the aesthetics of the game. I’d be okay with it being an extraction shooter but I dislike it being another pvp shooter. It would be nice if Bungie gave us a single player/co-op pve game. The original Marathon was single player and it’s odd that they are switching it to pvp.
Not to odd, marathon infinity had multiplayer, Bungie was really, REALLY early on making multiplayer first person shooters, even the original dev team making marathon wanted it to be multiplayer PvP, but technology limited them As for co-op, I assume Bungie wouldn't want to step on the toes of Destiny to much, Destiny is primarily a PvE game, even if people play PvP a lot, there is very little PvP only players but many PvE only players
@@flamingscar5263 I don’t know what you’re on about. The original Marathon trilogy was heavily focused on narrative and provided both single player and multiplayer. Imo Bungie shouldn’t focus on building Marathon for pvp only. I think there are a lot of fans that would appreciate a great story first with secondary end game modes. They would single out a lot of interest if it was pvp only, or for the worst, a hero shooter.
@@SandwichRobot I see what you mean. Probably the reason why I enjoyed Destiny 1 over Destiny 2. It was definitely a different vibe when it had a grittier, sci-fi aesthetic.
Hero shooter would be such an L. I’d prefer something close to the finals. Where customization and unique looks are prioritized over the visual distinction. This video is well made and probably very accurate to how the game was going to play or will play depending on how drastic the changes are. Very well made.
My only fear is the leak that it may transition to a “hero shooter” style roster etc alongside still being an Extraction game. I hope they don’t go with that as the backlash was astronomically 99.999% negative and well it’s so bad of an idea

I’ve only been playing destiny 2 for a couple months… but, I’ve never seen a shooter with such player customization… it’s an experience in itself. Hero shooters are just nothing in comparison. I hope Marathon keeps the same. We don’t need another hero game.
I have a feeling all the people that did Rasputin, vex, and mecha work in Destiny 2 went. I noticed destiny pulled away from doing any mechanical work, they changed heavily to hive, fallen, taken, and when they do have vex dlc they shit the bed. They killed off Rasputin. The last good consistent mechanized content since siva dlc.
uhm, guns in destiny are the basically the same gum model for every type... at the end all guns in destiny are modular but with some geometry added or a different skin... don't keep your hopes that high
it’s not gonna be comparable to destiny tho so why feel like it’s one or the other.. even if they were the same type of game don’t let that stop you.. you don’t have to identify with just one
@@MindsEntropyi think some dont have time for multiple live service games is all. Also, the continuous money spent throughout could be a factor for some. Not necessarily identifying with only 1.
So... essentially an unholy splice between Destiny 2' Gambit and The Division's Dark Zone... in space (??). Can't think of a less interesting genre, given that it will almost immediately be overrun by hacks, cheats and nonexistent quality control. Interesting to show Chris Barrett here. As of April - at least based on his current LinkedIn page details - he no longer appears to be working at BUNGiE. Weird. Don't recall seeing any news on this anywhere.
@uzer_zero The Chris barret stuff has been covered by many people, he was moved to the role of executive creative director for marathon. Bungie is aware that if this game is overrun by hacking it will intern die, thst is why they made a big emphasis on security within the vidoc
@@bonnuuoq No. Again - check Barrett's LinkedIn page. There is no indication whatsoever that he is working at BUNGiE at this time. His current Location: New York. His last BUNGiE job title under Experience is Game Director ends in " - April 2024", which is just after it was publicly revealed by Joe Zeigler that he'd replaced Barrett nine months prior. All other current BUNGiE employee profiles show their current job title ending in " - Present". Barrett has no current job title under Experience. Unlike almost every other current BUNGiE employee, his primary "title" does not end in "at BUNGiE" or " | BUNGiE". The BUNGiE logo has been removed from his profile. The Pratt Institute logo is all that remains. Looks like pretty simple math. Meanwhile, if you believe BUNGiE has the expertise necessary to prevent Marathon from being destroyed by hacks, cheats and nonexistent quality control, you really haven't been paying much attention to their performance these past several years.
I didn't mention it within the video but in the next video I'm going to do a part about the hero shooter rumours, I personally don't fully believe that it will be a hero shooter.
