Marathon is a new PvP-focused extraction shooter from the legendary studio Bungie behind Halo and Destiny. The developers behind the game have taken some time to explain exactly what is Marathon and give players a taste of what they should expect from the full game. Take a look at Bungie's first-ever ViDoc for Marathon launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC.

Very transparent and communicative. The gaming industry needs more of this. "We're close to alpha" "We're going dark for awhile to work on the game" etc. No false promises. Gameplay stated to be shown after the dark phase and when theyre ready. Keep this up, look forward to hearing more in the future

They seemed pretty transparent and ambitious with the first Destiny and we all know how there were a lot of underdeveloped ideas and gameplay mechanics that were just nonexistent. Not saying the same will happen with Marathon but we should wait to praise them until we see actual gameplay and ofc when the game actually releases.

Dog they explicitly said you’re running around the (likely ruined) Tau Ceti IV colony, assuming that remains true in the release game then it’s definitely related to the original games’ lore. The question is can they make the lore in this installment on a similar level? Perhaps not. But it seems intended to be a sequel of sorts.

I’m excited, BUT they’re definitely trying to bank on the Bungie name. The only reason Sony wanted Bungie was so people would go “ha they left Xbox and went to Sony. Clearly Sony is better.”. Even though this is NOT the same Bungie that made prime Halo. There’s literally no one left. It’s Bungie in name and name alone. Might as well just change the name.

Combining "deep lore" and PvP shooters in game just doesn't work. When are you going to understand that? The PvP aspect is at odds with focusing on the lore especially during competitive gameplay.

They might've just been part of the art department so it doesn't matter ig, but every time a developer was recounting their gameplay experiences and how the game plays, they sound like people who never game in their free time. Compared to the halo dev videos, none of these people seem like nerds.
