In this video I try married slip casting again. This time I use a dark clay body that has 8% black mason stain by weight. The marbling is then done with regular slip. My first couple tries have a bit less of a marbling effect, so I try a third time and mix up the slip a bit before rotating the plaster mold. That had a more marbled effect. I glaze the pots using a clear base glaze and show off the final three pots. Enjoy!

Thanks! My regular slip is made from Laguna B mix - I have a video showing that process. And the back slip has 8% by dry weight black Mason stain (Best Black #6600), you can check out my colored slip video to see how I made it. The glaze is just my local pottery shop's base glaze. I hope that helps!

When you say 8% by dry weight of clay, do you mean 92% of clay and 8% of stain so that it adds up to 100%? Or if you have 100 grams of clay then you add 8 grams of stain? That would add up to 108 grams

Hello and greetings Mohammed! The mold is made from a special type of plaster of Paris used in pottery. Slip is basically clay with more water and some other additives to make it flow. Satin is a word that describes a surface finish. Glossy is very shiny, matte is without shine, and satin is in between the two, just a little shiny. I hope that helps.
