Mane I teared up. I was born the same year the Grizzlies moved to Memphis. Me and my dad have had season tickets since I actually showed interest in basketball. Watching this team growing up was amazing. I got to meet this man many times and he is everything you would hope and want him to be. Thank you Marc.
I'm Spanish, I followed the NBA since Pau joined the league. Was a huge Grizzlies fan since but got distracted with Pau, Ricky and other Spanish players careers. I already had Marc very high up in the baskeball ranks but this documentary has helped me put it into perspective. His legend is as big as his brother's, no less. What a great guy to be around, I'm so proud of him ❤
One last thing. I feel like every body in Memphis needs to watch this. The way he and others spoke on the city made my heart smile. I wish we all felt this way. I know I do, no matter goes on. Memphis is home and this is a 'brutifal' place! 💙
As a Grizz fan that was born in the same Island as Aldama in Spain im very proud of the background that relate Spain and the city of Memphis, hopefully i will visit the city in the future.
He owns Basquet Girona, he was owner-player for two years before retiring. He switched NBA for second tier league in Spanish basketball, called LEB Oro. The team promoted to ACB league (top-flight league) for season 2022-2023 and has been in the league since then.
big grizzlies fan for the past 20 years. this was the best documentary I’ve seen so far. So fun to travel back and reminisce. It was so incredibly candid and even got a lil emotional at parts. great job whoever helped put this together!!
They need to show this to the 3 headed monster we currently have. So they can go into the next season with this type of mentality. i loved the gasol zbo, conley, allen era. What a group. This documentary brought tears to my eyes great memories indeed❤
I LOVE BIG SPAIN!!!! This documentary was so awesome, lots of great people in this. Thank you Marc you are an incredible person and an unreal competitor
Became a Bulls and Grizzlies fan because of Derrick Rose and Marc Gasol, I loved watching the baby bulls and grit and grind Grizzlies battle in the east/ west against "better" teams and lose.
This is one of the best documentaries I have ever watched. And Marc is a mirror I'd love to look at. Can't be enough thankful and proud for what he built for our national team and all the glory days those lads gave us in Olympics, World Championships and Eurobaskets. All Spaniards that love basketball feel the Grizzlies, and that's another legacy Marc leaves for Memphis.
I can still remember the whole process/timeline of the Grizzlies move to Memphis. Outside of Memphis, no one really cared. A lot of people thought the Grizz would move to either Anaheim, Vegas, Louisville, or back to Buffalo. It really helped that the Grizz owner Michael Heisley got along with Mayor Herenton or the team might not have moved here. I remember that big rally downtown when the Grizz arrived. A few days later, the NBA approved the move to Memphis.
Both with lethal jumpers and passing vision too. You couldn't just ease up on them until they got to the paint like Shaq or Dwight. They had to be picked up half court if you didn't want them to do damage, and then pray they didn't guard you on the other end!
Amazing documentary. I've been following the Grizzlies since Pau's arrival, but I enjoyed specially those years when Marc was at his peak and all the grit and grind stuff. And now I'm following his own team in Catalonia, Basquet Girona, he brought it back to the top spanish league; first as a player and now as the president and the owner. Respect!!!!!!!!!!
Marc Gasol aoy are truly missed! You are an amazing and very intellectual Basketball Athlete! I truly wish that you would become an Assistant Coach and help the current coach Taylor Jenkins! Coach Henkins is Awesome and the team would rise up the ranks if you were his assistant to work with the players and keep them focused and grounded! I truly believe that you could really help JA Morant. The kids is awesome on the court, only issue is he comes across as being 'left out' by fellow teammates because of his off court issues. He seems to be handling the off court issues better, but having someone of your experience, talent and camaraderie with the Grizzlies organization and players would boost the attitude and drive for everyone on Grizzlies team❤❤❤ Thank you for the years you played for the Grizzlies and best wishes on your retirement❤❤
This was beautiful! From start to finish! Marc is Memphis. Just like Penny and ZBO. I love him even more after this. Thank you for everything MG33 💙💙 Grit n Grind 4L
Marvelous! What a great documentary! From the outside we do not see the work, the doubts, the emotions of these great basketball stars. For the Spanish it has been a wonderful time and we will always be grateful to an unrepeatable generation
My favorite player of all-time is Zach Randolph aka ZBo. But their front frontcourt duo of ZBo and Marc is the reason for all the success our Grizzlies had during the Grit N Grind era.
In his 3 years with Barcelona Marc was not really playing, he was the 3rd/4th option in the rotation and apparently was not happy with his coach, the legendary Dusko Ivanovic; he did not play much in the 2005/2006 season. But that summer, he was surprisingly selected to play in the world cup in Japan with the spanish national team, and he was key during the tournament and in the final game. The next year everything changed, he moved to Girona, the following year he was the MVP of the league, and the rest is history. This guy is a fighter and a beast of a human being, such a great example for younger generations.
Wow. This documentary was incredibly uplifting and showed you the humanity this man has. It should be a testament to each of us. Great for Memphis and great for just a fan of incredible stories of humanitarianism and love Grit and Grind forever! Go Grizz!
I loved that team! Conley, Z-Bo, Marc and my favorite - Tony Allen. In the Grindhouse! And I'm not even a Grizzlies fan LOL! During that stretch of maybe 5 seasons, my guys (Jazz) were not even making the playoffs. So I had to pick a team and I really rooted for these Grizzlies. Good memories.
Getting to the end of this doc made me realize the true brotherhood that Marc, Z-Bo, T.A. and Conley. How close they were when the new guys came in and some were traded and how the synergy was knocked off. And all of those playoff runs together really strengthened him. Love this
Loving the Documentary. I as most fans, didn't know what all was goin on with the team.. But as soon we got rid of Pau & got Marc. My gut instinct was. Hell Yeah! I KNEW he was going to be better.
You've to give credit to this grit and grind Memphis team... No one since '04 Pistons won a chip without a Superstar, (honorable mention to the 2014 Spurs with the old TD and young KL). Great documentary, well deserved Marc Gasol.👏
Love my Grizzlies and my city ,born and raised. I’ve watched the entire process from the 1st season to present day . Something that haunts me tho is that we should’ve drafted Steph Curry smh . I can’t believe we past him up for Tebeet
Mundobasket 2006 ..Marc Gasol y empezó a crecer y a crecer ... Dominó Europa a lo Arvydas Sabonis y fue mejor en NBA que Vlado Divac. Un gran jugador europeo, top 10, y el segundo mejor jugador español de la historia.
42:45 Gasol helped lay the foundations fr. Sound familiar? Listen to any coach Jenkins interview. Grizzlies are in good hands, consistency between the eras Edit: 1:30:06 😂
Damn. One day down the road, Marc would make a great basketball coach. Perhaps not in today's NBA, because he either wouldn't be able to or refuse to pamper all the egos. But I could definitely see him being a successful coach in Spain or even here in the US at the college level...
