I met Marc and Ann Savoy at Mcabes Guitar Shop for one of their shows in 2013 . Marc was just walking into the joint. He stopped and we had about a 1/2 hour conversation about accordions. Needless to say I watched the whole show. Marc and Ann waited at the exit and shook hands and wished everyone a good night when they left the venue. i had never seen anything like that in my life. Just a class act and 2 of the nicest people I have ever met in my life.

I want a Cajun accordion more than anything. I'd be on the porch all day playing DL Menard, pretending I was in Louisiana. The Cajun accordion is the sound of my soul.

Hello Mr Savoy, I have never met you but heard SO Much about you. My parents are Laten & Betty Miller, aka, Cajun Classic Accordion. I am so glad to finally see who you are. I just showed my dad this video and sadly he doesn't remember you. He has Alzheimer's and I am caring for him in my home. My mother passed away on Jan 9th, 2016. Although he can't remember making 137 Cajun Classic Accordions he can still play around on it and make a good sound and can still play his fiddle. I am treasuring those times because I know they will soon be gone. I want to personally THANK YOU for all the help you gave to my dad in making his accordions and for you friendship to both my mom and dad. God Bless You. Pam Miller Hymel

I have a Cajun accordion. On the right it has one row of buttons and two pull out buttons on top. Under thumb is the air valve flat piece. Under left fingers are two larger flat pieces when touched are low chords. It is pretty unique to me. I am now trying to learn to play it. Listening to Mr Mark Savoy makes me really appreciate it all the more. Thank you sir!! 🇨🇦

Hey, I thought you should know, that's probably more like a Quebecois accordion! That's what I'm learning on too! They're still pretty much the same, but the Cajun ones have 4 stops instead of 2, and the reeds are just tuned a little different. Keep at it, we'll both be playing real good soon enough!

Question - Since 2012, why only 68 comments? This heartfelt video has brought tears to my eyes, yes! Sir, you are a musician. Musicians can not learn by taking lessons, NO, a real musician is BORN a musician, much like an artist has to be born an artist and cannot become an artist by taking lessons. You were given a great blessing by our Creator God, cherish it as I know you already do.

Hello Mr. Savoy - Love your music and history. My name is Colette and I live in California. I belong to an Accordion Club here and I am wondering if you would interested in possibly playing your accordion / Cajun music and telling us a little bit about Cajun music via ZOOM? I would love to findout how to get in touch with Mr. MMark Savoy and location of his store. I would like to see about getting my hands on one of his accordions. I have one I bought through Lake Charles Louisiana and its ok to learn on but I really want one tthat's built in Louisiana by someone that knows how to make a real cajun accordion. I met with Irving Le June and asked him to make me one but he told me due to his health he was only finishing up the 5 he had in his shop. He did give me some pointers on playing the Love Bridge Waltz.

Chuck Thank You very much. I know this area pretty well my Dad grew up between Eunice Basile and Iota. It's been a while since I have been there. The last time I was there was to visit a cousin in the nursing home. Heck when I was a kid we lived in Basile and very familiar with the area. So I shouldn't have too much trouble finding Mark's shop.

Definitely check out the Saturday morning jam at the Savoy shop! There's that in Eunice til noonish - jam session, welcoming to just listen to. Lots of old French language, family-style. Then, head up to Mamou, to Fred's Lounge. Have some beer and dance if you're gutsy. Oh and lunch at the diner across the street, before it all sells out when the bar closes. You might know this already though, but it was a great time, and he's a real, nice guy.
