This is easily the best documentary I have seen about Proust. The acting, the commentary, the chance to see Michel Butor and Terence Kilmartin convey their passion for the work. I'm most grateful to have discovered this.
I am a USAer… currently living in Laureles, Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia -- Watching this from here is poetic. I just discovered Proust yesterday. Writing a blog about him now.
Salem Fathi, It's very important that people get to know him and the language doesn't matter. it is beautiful written in french, but with a very good translation the beauty doesn't fail. you are just looking for attention. I know so and i am sure. you love this negative attention.... YOU NEED IT
Undoubtedly many of the subtleties disappear when he's translated, but the meaning of his words shifts with the passage of time anyway. If humanity lasts 300-400 years, even the French will only have access to him through translation.
