Your reaction was priceless! Marcelito Pomoy taught himself this song, he has no classical training, rather taught himself how to sing from an early age. He learned this song by listening to a recording by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. His performance, considering that he requires a translator to carry on a conversation in English even though he understands it well but has trouble speaking it, is gorgeous. His native language is Philipino Tagalog, and he has no formal training. The recording engineer was teasing him about his female voice. That's why he spit her out at the end. Notice his big grin after doing that. He is singing now in English, Italian, Spanish and Chinese but he does not speak those languages. Possibility even more by now. He grew up on the streets from age 7. On September 21, 2014, Pomoy married Joan Paraiso of Calauag, Quezon, and they have one daughter, Marcella Janiah. He is very humble, helping out his neighbors with odd jobs and repairs, even though his reported net worth is around $5,000,000 USD. His ambition serves him well in whatever he does! Many top singers have two voices but what is almost unique with this guy is he has perfected total control over both sides of his voice. Very rare and to have a great voice in either register is even rarer.
Marcelito is not lip syncing. He has been doing that when he joined Pilipinas Got Talent and end up as the grand winner. He is just amazing coz seldom you know people who could sing two registers in one. It's just real talent and skill that only him could do.

Marcelito Castro Pomoy IS THE REAL DEAL. I had the great privilege of meeting and watching him in concert in June in Toronto. Watching him live was like an out of body experience. The videos DO NOT do his voice any justice. Proud to be Filipino. Cheers from Toronto.
he's what we call a "dual voice" artist. basically somebody who can sing a duet all by himself. a lot of singers can do it here in the Philippines thus there are contests that cater to this type of singing. they even wear costumes that are half male/half female to make their performance even more entertaining. Marcelito is definitely one of the best when it comes to this genre of singing, but there are a lot of others who sing this way here in the Philippines. btw he's also the winner of Philippines Got Talent 2011.

Hi, guys! I assure you it's quite "normal" here in the Philippines. BUT Marcelito is among THE BEST, if not THE BEST who does this type of singing we call "DOBLE-KARA" where a male singer sings both male and female parts of a duet song. We even have singing contests for people like him who has this skill and ability in singing in dual voices. What's great about Marcelino is that both his "voices" show not only skill but a quality that is pleasant to listen to. I'm also in awe of his talent.

At least last year pa ni nga video pero wala pa ninggawas nga similar nga performance nga gibuhat from another nationality... pero kahibalo ka nga naay contest para sa ingon ani sa Pinas, or naay mohimo ani as talent sa Miss Gay sa mga countless barangay fiesta celebs sa tibuok Pinas.
maybe he didn't do a perfect celine or andrea, but the way he transition from female to male voice quickly is impressive and i think is a talent in itself

@Mathew Tubo..actually, Patti Austin, said The Philippines' the best country for natural singers..I just can't remember the name of the show where she was a guest or judge (watched it long time ago kasi)...i think Singapore or Thailand was the host, where there was this singing contest for international singers. Nagtawanan nga mga commentators at the time kasi the Philippines were not mentioned when one jokingly asked WHICH COUNTRY HAS THE BEST SINGERS...when Patti Austin said, The Philippines, they said that"s the reason why they did not mentioned the Philippines kasi daw it's a well known fact...nakaka proud talaga.

I go back and check Marcelito out every once in a while.....! Hahahaha! I have a new singing sensation for you to check out. He hasn't hit the states yet, but he will. I was hooked on watching Marcelito for several weeks, but then I came across Dimash Kudaibergen. He is from Kazakhstan, but was invited to compete against all professional Singer on a Chinese tv singing competition show called The Singer. Seriously, if you want to hear a voice that will blow you away, you have to check him out! He has a much bigger range than Marcelito, but he doesn't do the duel voice thing where they intentionally try to sound like a male and a female. Dimash is a male singer with a range that reaches Mariah Carey range right up to and including whistle notes. Once you get hooked on him, you can join the International Fan Club I started about six months or so ago that now has over 3500 members. You can find us on Facebook at Dimash Kudaibergen International Fan Club. Dimash is 23 years old, sings in 6-7 languages, and has had a lot of American Reactors getting hooked on him, even though he is not yet discovered here....but he will be. I have seen rap lovers, hip hop lovers, Kpop lovers, rock n rollers, pop lovers, classical music lovers, you name it, become fascinated and addicted to watching his performances. Please check him out now so you can say you were on the "cutting edge" of helping him become known in the USA! Recommended songs to start with might be SOS, or OPERA2, or Unforgettable Day. He has a GOD given talent with a dual voices of tenor & soprano. BTW, Filipinos don’t lip sync. Marcelito is one of a kind. NO actual voice training. He was a teenager when he discovered that he can sing both voices, since then he joined a couple of singing contest, won the grand final in Philippines Got Talent 2. He’s now 34 yrs old, married with 1 daughter. He’s always relaxed when he sings.

There are maybe a lot of singers in the Philippines that can sing like this but he is only one of the few that can do it almost perfect. Pitch perfect!!!
Obviously it's pure talent. It's a gift. A lot of singers/comedians do this but with him his voice are really great. No lip sync here. Filipinos are not accustomed to that unless really needed. But if you're a real singer I doubt it.
