NFL stadiums are not suitable for football. At the 2024 European Championship, a stadium in Frankfurt was used in the same way and all the teams that had to play on that field, ended up complaining. If USA intends to hold the world cup 2026 in the same way, it will be a shit show.

As a USA fan I went through all the drama of our supporters group of American Outlaws. CONMEBOL didn't let them bring any drums in and didn't let them organize a supporters section for the games. CONMEBOL came into this tournament only in it for the money. In Glendale it was 100+ dollars for the Colombia vs Costa Rica game which I was never going to pay as a neutral. CONMEBOL is obviously running the event, but its up to the host nation to ensure it ticks all the boxes in terms of organisation. The US dropped the ball in many aspects including having terrible pitches in many of the games. Security is absolutely CONMEBOLs fault. You think cops work for free? No the police force gets paid per police officer present. if there weren't enough of them that is greedy fuckers trying to save money. Every European game I have been to has mixed fan areas and I have only ever been to very high risk games with full stadiums this shit does not happen in any of them (there was never a violent confrontation in the mixed family areas of the stadium where they put you if you buy a ticket for a child) because the GAME ORGANISERS make the necessary preparations. How do you expect the CEO of the american football stadium to know the proper seating arrangements and security procedures for a sporting culture they have no familiarity with? If i rent a house from you and then i beat up my wife inside the house that is your property how is that any of your fault? It is the organisers, who are getting paid and are going to get all the money from the tournament that have to send people to the stadium a month before to make sure the pitch is in order. When the euro was in my country, Portugal, twenty years ago we had inspections on stadium construction starting 5 years before the tournament and the stadiums had to be finished and getting used by the clubs for the entire preceding season, an entire year before the first game or they wold be eliminated from the tournament.

Wouldn't spent the extra money for players families to have boxes, laid down grass with days to spare, NFL stadiums aren't even wide enough for fifa regulations. Apparently US Soccer and NFL have to find a way to raise pitches high enough to make them wider at the cost of seating.

Well said Michael.... and Marcelo is 100 % correct. But I will also say this. The U.S. is to blame for the poor security and the restrictions of instruments at the Matches. Yet the restrictions are part of the "security" protocol. As for the poor playing conditions... don't expect that to change much for the World Cup Matches played in the U.S in 2026. Why? Because most of the Stadiums there do not have grass surfaces anymore. My Wife and I moved from the U.S. to Poland 7 years ago because we had - had it with the nonsense that is happening there on so many different levels.

@@dagosegovia843 I do understand it. And I have attended 5 WCs in person and know what fans are like from all around the world. I also understand that people need to act like adults. I love their passion but dislike their temperament. Korean fans are very passionate, but they don't brawl and stab people. I don't except passion as an excuse. Let's call a spade a spade. Same for British fans. Passionate but 5% act like drunken violent arseholes. So the problem is not unique to L America, but it is concentrated there. Go to a Senegal match, They too are passionate and enjoy the event as much as anyone, but they don't become violent. It's all about temperament mi amigo.

Conmebol is very corrupted and always on Uruguay favor, on this incident that happen they’re not going to do nothing about it and they’re not going to give fines to the Uruguay fútbol team when their fans are the ones that created the incident, now about what the striker Núñez saids about his family being on the crowd, for starters the stadium has those Luxury Suites, the players that they make a lot money, he and all his teammates could afford but no, they decided to be cheap and putting their families with the crowd, so by doing that they should know better that their families are gonna be taking risks so no excuses, they shouldn’t be crying about it, if Uruguay would had won the game, trust me nothing of this would had happen but Since they Loss their fan base are so very soft and fragile that they start creating problems fights for nothing just because they’re hurt and we the people no matter what country you’re from or what country you represent, we have no other choice to defend ourselves, that’s every time in South America when Uruguay lose a game, their fan base starts a riot, and then they act being the victims when they are not.

Sadly, our nation has the trappings of understanding the beautiful game, but it truly doesn't understand the international infrastructure needed to address the world when they come to our country. When we have soccer in the United States, everybody is polite, everybody is in their seats, there is no tension that would demand security to line the aisles or to police the stands. We don't have the passion for the game like the rest of the world. I mean that in the stands there's not as much passion like you would see in South America or other countries. If many American sports fans see what happens when River Plate vs. Bocca Juniors come together,then they'd know the security needed to corral the fans and supporters from boiling over. In South America, soccer is more than just sport... It's passion, it's life! America and soccer does not even come close to what is seen in South America and other places in the world. We are flat out not prepared to host such an event like this.
@pelipequi1493

How come there are no issues in Europe or South America for the families? This was a security issue, and it was a lack of intercultural competence in terms of understanding fútbol passionate hinchas (much more than fans, we don't have an equivalent translation). It's is exactly this concept lost in translation that caused organizers to undersecure the stands and watched a stampede of Uruguayan players' families about to get hurt. When you add alcohol to the mix, that's a recipe for disaster. Do we have to wait until someone gets killed? A five year old girl almost got stepped on by drunken "fans".

I think the overarching theme is that the us doesn’t have football/soccer specific venues that are set the level to where they can hold these tournaments, Sure I get how the US can’t get most of the blame but what scares me about this situation is that they’re hosting the World Cup in a couple years and I personally don’t even think they’ll change a thing about the stadiums they’ve used, they’ll use the NFL specific stadiums because they have bigger capacities which means more money but then most of them have artificial turf instead of real grass and every time they just lay grass on top thinking it will be fine when in reality grass fields need to be maintained for months on football/soccer specific venues so that once they’re actually used they won’t feel like they’re tearing apart because the grass is rooted and isn’t just a carpet made to be taken away. Every time they bring European teams to the us you can see the same shit over and over again with the fields they’re all using American football fields to maximise revenue but not using maintaining the grass the way it should be. FIFA will get the blame instead of the underlying issue I mean from what I’ve heard MetLife will host the final and that’s not even the best American football stadium let alone one that’s good for soccer
