Correct Marcelo was defeated years before this by the Terere who created most modern passes we see today.. he beat Marcelo four times in gi and was light years ahead of his time in gi..Marcelo did get better in gi bjj by 2010 in gi but Terere left bjj ..( no gi from 2003 on Marcelo was the best pound 4 pound possibly ever. )
Idk if I'll explain this well, but try and follow the grip-fight on the right knee of Diniz from 2:15 to 2:32 Diniz has the grip on Garcia's wrist and Garcia has it on the right knee. Following the path of colliding strength from the both of them is just a cool thing to notice.
