Bill O'Reilly should have the shit beaten out of him for the insensitive and illogical things that he said to Mr. Saviano. The name of the victim doesn't have to be revealed, but the priests molesting these children should still be turned over to the authorities and held accountable for what they've done. It doesn't matter of the victim doesn't want their name released, it doesn't have to be released. But the priest held responsible shouldn't be allowed to walk free.

O'Reilly seems intent, in this interview, on giving as little credence as possible to what Phil Saviano has to say. He seems to want to silence Saviano and redirect the viewers away from the truth! The idea that investigations of this crime should ever NOT be turned over to the civil authorities because victims may want to retain anonymity is ludicrous! Sexual abuse is a CRIME! Of course, it should be investigated by civil authorities every single time! I thought O'Reilly believed in the rule of law, but apparently he actually believes in the rule of Law, as in Bernard Law. Bill O'Reilly, the spewer of utter bullshi!

I agree. He said that the statistics show that paedophiles represent 6% of the general population, and also that 6% of Catholic priests are paedophiles. Well, if the population is 1 million and 6% of them are deviants, where the number of priests is 1000 in a diocese and 6% of those are deviants. It would seem that the percentage is very high in the Catholic Church compare to the general population.

To imply that a pedaphile not be held accountable and prosecuted, for any reason, is a slap in the face to their victims. If your daughter was raped, Mr O'Reilly, but you didn't want your community to know it was her, would you walk away from prosecuting the perp??? Hell No! This is no different. How dare you add insult to injury and abuse to these recovering victims by suggesting that the perp should walk because the victim does't want to be identified! You are part of the problem, sir. The very problem that "Spotlight" has identified, but we all know what a supporter of the Roman Catholic dictatorship you are. Absolutely sickening.

+allfurone But don't you always have to identify the victim to a certain extent? They'd have to go to before a judge and jury and tell the court what happened to them, wouldn't they?

what's funny is because of spotlight and they revealed so many countries and cities around the world that has had the same issues, o'reilly looked like a fool once the information went out in December 2002. it's just interesting to watch an ignorant man get proven wrong in less than 2 years, PLUS a movie about it, PLUS evidence of his ignorance for everyone to see in the future.

Soulsphere001, not necessarily. It is against the law in all 50 states to release the name of a minor without written consent from the parents for any reason, except "Amber Alerts". Even with adults who are victims in criminal/civil cases, the victim can ask that their names be kept classified, sealed, as well as their contact information that is given in the papers filed with the clerks office. This protects the victim from stalkers, witness tampering, and from the defence, friends and family of the defendant, or in this case....supporters of the Catholic Church from finding out where and who the victims live, work, play, go to school, and so forth to protest in front of said places, intimidate, harass, bully, assault, commit acts of arson, or yes....murder the victim. O'Reilly has been in journalism long enough to know this. What he did here was make excuses for a rapist to a rape victim! It is beyond sick to even watch, and unfathomable to a humane person!
