Marcus at Goldman Sachs is paying 4.5% for the high yield savings. We have our emergency fund stored there and the transfer to use is only 1 day.

oh my! Im so sorry to hear about your roof! They are very expensive to replace! Your insurance wouldnt cover any of it? Maybe due to age?

Thank you. There was no event that caused damage to the roof, it was just old so I don't think insurance covers something like that but to be honest I didn't even check.

20% of a paycheck seems like a crazy amount for just your husband‘s play money. Also, how much play money do you get?

I also get 20% but I just include all my personal spending in these budgets. He also pays for his student loans out of his 20% since he took those out before he met me. And I pay for my retirement account loan out of mine. We've talked about decreasing that percentage and it might be something we do later this year if our budget remains tight.

That's a great idea. I think we may have to do that.

44k for a new roof and windows seems really high even for the extra damage found. Is it too late for more estimates?

It is too late. We already signed the contract and have most of the work completed.
