We would fall asleep watching TV, and then we would wake up to this, turn the TV off, roll over and go back to sleep... Reminds me of being newly married, 20-something, living in our first house off E Stassney in South Austin in the mid-80’s.. Yep ... fell asleep and woke up to this rarely-heard verse of the N.A. many a time. Thanks for posting.

Interesting using the final stanza of the Star Spangled Banner for the closing credits.

I love the PBS bumper from that era, used from most of the 1970s to the early ‘80s.

That's my favorite PBS logo ever & I've always loved that technology & the music that went along with it. It'll never be replaced. I wish that this logo would still be on TV today & if it was, it would get the viewers attention today like it did when we were kids. It definitely needs to be brought back.

KLRU later used the National Anthem clip to end their analog service in 2009.

I probably bet most of those KLRN "Patron Members", save for quite a handful, aren't here anymore...

Among of the KLRN/KLRU "Patron Members" are three of San Antonio's commercial stations including CBS affiliate KENS-TV 5, NBC affiliate KMOL 4 (formerly and now known as WOAI-TV) and ABC affiliate KSAT 12 as well as Austin's former CBS (now Fox) affiliate KTBC-TV 7.

Alamo National Bank, American National Bank (those two later MBank and Bank One), and Capital National Bank (later Texas Commerce Bank) are now J.P. Morgan Chase. Austin National Bank (later InterFirst), Austin Savings & Loan (later University Savings), Mutual Savings Institution (later First Texas and First GIbraltar), and National Bank of Commerce (later NBC Bank) are now Bank of America. Frost National Bank is now the state-chartered Frost Bank. Gebhardt Chili Powder Co. is now part of ConAgra. Lone Star Brewing Co. and Pearl Brewing Co. are now part of Pabst. Richters Bakery (known for Butter Krust bread) is now Flowers Foods. E.M. Scarborough & Sons sold its mall stores to Dillard's but ran smaller stores for a few more years before closing. Superior Dairies sold to Borden, which recently closed the Austin plant built by Superior. Whopper Burger sold to Burger King so the latter could enter San Antonio, but the old owners started Burger Boy. First Federal S&L (later Guaranty Federal Bank) is now PNC Bank.
