This sign off was recorded on November 12, 1980, judging by the CBS ID slide with the announcer saying "Tomorrow on CBS", referring to a preceding promo for a broadcast of the 1976 Academy Award for Best Picture winner "Rocky" set to occur the following day. WTVJ has been an NBC affiliate since 1989 and on channel 6 since 1995.
I've got several copies of this SSB clip and still don't know what the deal is with the screen at 2:52 saying "The Pilot Who Had Everything"- I'm guessing it's a still from a training film and they didn't think we'd notice the words there?
***** It's called the Moog SSB, so named because it's played on a Moog synthesizer; it was actually introduced around 1971 or '72, right around the time another popular national anthem video was introduced, that being the Flag Evolution SSB video.
When they announced the sign-off, for some reason they didn't announce the information that included where the station is located at or what it's licensed by.
I almost misread WTVJ as WTAJ, which is a Pennsylvania broadcasting station, but I don't see much history about that. Would be nice if someone had their hands on some WTAJ stuff...
