I worked at Georgia State Univ when they beat Baylor in the NCAA Tournament in 2015. As a consequence, there was a spike in an enrollment over the previous academic year while student retention improved. I did a paper in graduate school that studies the Flutie effect on college admission. The bottom line is students/community want to engage with a winner, and the NCAA Tournament is a recruiting tool that pays off.
Yeah their dream ended in the hands of Florida, but they made me a bandwagon fan since the Georgetown game. Always hoping they pull another upset since that year
MANCHESTER UNITED F.C I love soccer it’s my favorite sport but I don’t remember disrespecting soccer in my comment so that was a stupid comment of you to put down
Fun fact: In their conference championship game a week before that, he broke his ankle celebrating after they hit another game-winner. That's the reason he was on the chair in the first place.
All they had to do was inbound the basketball and make some foul shots and that game was over--hell, just inbound the ball and take a few 10-second calls even. I know that game haunts the players on that Northern Iowa team to this day.
47 47 because he gets you hyped when a crazy play happens guys like joe buck, Troy aikman, and Phil Simms don’t even deserve to be in the booth because they put people to sleep and ruin a good game
One of my favorite things about these videos is looking back and seeing the guys we didn't know at the time and now they're in the NBA. Like it adds another dimension that the A&M team had Caruso and House. Mid-major guys like CJ McCollum and Kyle O'Quinn who got shots at the league because they led massive upsets. It's really cool.
They really showed their ability to lead a team, scouts felt that they could help an NBA team, I'm just glad to see, that their talents did not go to waste.😁😁👍👍
@@-jackkeith I just wish they didn't come back for their 2nd season lol. Imagine if dbook and Tyler ulis had some more playing time going into the 2015 tournament
There's really just something about college sports that excites me and actually makes me happy. Seeing moments like these reminds me of when the Red Sox beat the curse in 2004, pure joy and the happiest of tears.
@@asholed not blind enough to see horrible English, but blind enough to not be able to see anything other than a dude taking a shot then everyone running towards their own bench celebrating. the fuck am I missing here?
@@asholed that nanosecond shot where they're pointing? and you're absolutely positive that's what they were saying? "stop celebrating our huge win, and go be good sportsmen?"
I went to that game... I was literally about to leave the arena with two minutes left until UNC start hitting crazy shots... I ran back towards my seat, Jenkins hits the 3 and literally tens of thousands of seat cushions were chucked on the court... At the fan fest there was a 3 point shooting contest among fans from all four teams.. first team to hit 10 3s win... these two kids from Oklahoma was torching everyone until I showed up and won the next three games.. The final game just before tipoff was between the fans from UNC and Villanova both sides were fighting to get me on their side... Since I'm a Kentucky Wildcats fan I had to join Villanova's side... Score was 9 to 9.. I told the squad if they miss I'm gonna shoot from halfcourt and win the game... Sure Enough they clanked the shot.. I calmly step back to half court pull up and hit nothing but net to win the game.. It was cool as hell.. The Villanova fans swarmed me like we just won the National Title..
Zach Bell It’s just March Madness brutha. Upsets, half-court buzzer beaters, schools you never heard of destriying every bracket. March Madness at its finest.
Such a damn good decade for March Madness. So many great games and memories. I still can’t believe how nuts the last 15 minutes of that Xavier/Kansas State game was.
I was going to SFA at the time and living in the dorms and no joke we literally had a riot in the dorms and like destroyed our whole hall. One of the craziest nights of my life
I gotta say even though Virginia lost as a 1 seed last year, one of the most shocking losses EVER is Duke losing to 15 Lehigh as a 2 seed. One of the best bracket busters ever.
Let me get this straight. Virginia loses as the #1 seed to a #16 seed for the first time in history since they expanded to 16 team brackets and you're ripping Duke for losing as a #2 seed? Question, too. How many titles has Virginia won compared to Duke over the last, I dunno, million years? And I'm not even a Duke fan. I mean, since 1970, Duke has been to the final 10 times and won it 5 times compared to Virginia who's been to the finals once with 1 title and you're ripping on Duke. LOL.
Watching this makes me so thrilled for March Madness, especially since we didn't get it last year. Here's to another decade of memories (hopefully, COVID better not ruin it)
That Koenig corner 3 to beat Xavier was absolutely nuts, I remember watching that one live🔥 Craziest thing was he SAID he knew it was good BEFORE he even took the shot
@cpk1994 you clearly don’t know the definition of clutch. They still had a title Appearance, two final fours, two elite 8s, two sweet 16s, 9 tourney wins, and both had extremely clutch moments in 2014 and 2015
I will never forget 7:43 honestly Gauser is our best defender, he knows that Harrison hits that shot and he doesn't guard him. Wisconsin wins the game they stomp Uconn for the title
This was some pretty phenomenal ball! The ice in this kids’ veins. Amazing! I could watch this over and over. As a silly thing I loved when they showed the score of #15 Midd Tenn St vs #2 Mich State at MTS 15 MSU 2. This shows why March Madness is the most exciting playoff/tournament in all sports!
I attended the Loyola Chicago game against Miami and Tennessee that year. Both played in my hometown, and the amount of energy I wasted by just sitting on the Loyola Chicago game, just phenomenal.
Was a student at SFA when they made that comeback against VCU. Was my favorite college basketball moment ever… until we beat Duke at the buzzer in 2019 😉 Axe ‘em, Jacks 💜
Great vid! Only complaint is one I can't really complain about since it was out of your control, but 2010 had so many great buzzer beaters and last second shots, especially in the first and second rounds. Darn shame footage of them are so hard to find, so shoutout to Quincy Pondexter (Washington over Marquette), Ish Smith (Wake Forest over Texas), Ali Farokhmanesh (UNI over UNLV on a ridiculously longer shot than the one against KU. Without the game winner against Vegas, we don't get that iconic shot against Kansas.), and Chris Kramer (Purdue over Texas A&M in the 2nd round)
Matthew Clary It’s even crazier considering a 70 something percent free throw shooter for Miami missed the front end of a one and one, if he just makes something so simple Loyola probably would have been done in the first round.
Its crazy seeing NBA stars in some of these clips playing for small seeded teams. Like CJ Mccollum for Leigh and Faried on moorehead state, and im sure no one that those times thought they would be NBA players, let alone stars.
we tend to not watch those smaller schools a lot during the regular season, so it's even greater to us to see them leading the upsets. the tournament makes and breaks too
I’ll never forget that SFA/VCU game. Was my first year at SFA and watched the game with a few friends off campus. I remember jumping out of my seat on the 4 point play and getting bit by my friend’s dog at the same time 😂😂😂
