I know 6 books doesn't seem like a lot, but I am a very slow reader. I enjoy taking my time with each book.
Books Mentioned (starting with the one I enjoyed the most)
Gabriel Garcia Marquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude (Magical Realism)
William Shakespeare's King Lear (Drama)
Katherena Vermette's North End Love Songs (Poetry)
William Shakespeare's Macbeth (Drama)
Evelyn Waugh's Brideshead Revisited (Dark Academia?)
Virginia Woolf's Mrs Dalloway (Modern Fiction)

This month I'm taking part in a Shakespeare readathon. I can read either one of his sonnets or one of his plays. I'm still trying to decide which one of his works to pick ( even though I think you just sold me on Macbeth🤭) as this will be the first time, that I will be willingly, be reading his works. I also can't wait to get to 100 years of solitude☺️ I have Mrs Dalloway on my bookshelf but everyone I know that has read it, either hates it or ends up DNFing it. I think that is why I am afraid of picking it up. Hope you have a wonderful April Reading month🙌

I’d be interested in hearing your perspective on Shakespeare for fun. I know a lot of people associate his work with school but I’d be interested in knowing your perspective and what you start doing it for fun without assignment and exams to think about when you read it

How cool!!! Macbeth is great and very fun to read, but the structure is a bit messy. Just keep that in mind and you will enjoy it. English teachers always like to introduce Shakespeare through his comedies, but I think it is a big mistake because comedies tend to drag and get boring. Macbeth is a good start because it is not long and is super interesting. Mrs Dalloway is worth reading. I struggled to put it down, but I love the stream of consciousness style.😅 I can understand why others find it boring. It is also a short novel (around 180 pages). A happy April reading month for you too! ❤
