Since Gods in the 40K Universe are shaped based on the Material worlds emotions and interpretation of them, and such ideas only solidify grow stronger with more worshipers. Its actually likely that this is the case that they will not be forgiven until they literally die in combat, and given the fatalistic nature of Imperial beliefs in general that goes the same to the rest of the Imperium just with less extreme compared to the Death Korp. In a way the Humanity kind of damned themselves.

That’s a very funny idea you have thinking a krieg regiment is a full strength on a planet with an active war zone. If they aren’t reduced by a third within the first week of an engagements the men would revolt.

A standard regiment of imperial guard can be anywhere from 1,000 to 10,000 men. A standard kreig regiment can be anywhere from 100,000 to 125,000 My rough calculation has them moving at about eight men a second. At which rate you would need a four-hour long video to depict a single regiment crossing that single stretch of land.

I love in the krieg novel how they ask them what their fighting strength is and they answer 60.000 immediately deployable. And when asked what their population is they just answer 60.000 again. When pointed out they mean civilians the Death Korps answer is there are no civilians on Krieg, only soldiers.

Actually Krieg does use a lot of vechicles especially for towing Artillery or for AAA use :P - That said not always a situation demands them to be used. So if they would be close to the front line - especially hardened one then they would just march into their position like any other army would.

With Krieg at their back, they even stand a fighting chance

A commissars normal job is to get men to die for the emperor, a Kreigs commissars job is to keep them from dying to early

The Commissar's duty is to control the men; in the case of the Kriegsmen it's to remind them they can leave a battle they are losing because they won't stop until either they all die or the enemy dies. The Kriegsmen will mow down and kill other guard regiments for running away and will even attack other imperial allies like space marines and mechanicus. They will even attack Inquisitors if they show a hint of doubt. If I was an offworld guardsman fighting with a Krieg army I would be up in the front with the charging guys; because the guys in the back will shoot me if I run. And I would rather die in the front than the back.

I don't go anywhere near the corps for a reason.

If that actually worked it'd be both an ingenious display of psychological warfare but would prudently save valuable resources, manpower and bodies to throw at other objectives. Not typical Krieger style of warfare but it's an interesting concept, an idea you could probably sell to a couple of Krieg regiments by promising that by not thoughtlessly throwing away their lives in one battle they can die later in other strategically larger goals such as breaking a siege of an enemy held stronghold.
