Hi. Fun haul. I love the tailors marking set. Your $5.99 bundle was worth every penny. Just looked it up on Amazon and it is $14.97. Enjoy all your wonderful haul things.
OMG I agree, I looked it up to add to my description and I was dumbfounded, that marking set, the refills, fabric eraser, measuring tapes, and wonder tapes (not to mention the misc items I haven't been able to readily identify) must be at least a total value of $60, easy! I feel so thrilled to have lucked up on that set of items! So happy and have already started putting it to use! Thanks so much for watching.
Great haul!! You were around the corner from my home in Laurel. The Vogue 7270 and the Butterick patterns are drool worthy. The little strawberry is filled with metal filing dust and yes, it is used to sharpen one's needles. The coat is everything!!! So rich looking!!! I haven't gone thrifting in awhile, but it seems I may be missing out on some things. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
Yes, many of these places were in my Laurel circuit, you have some gems near you! Thank you so much, I was so happy with the items I picked up! I will definitely start using the mini strawberry for pin sharpening too now that I know, that's brilliant!
Great share. That wool coat looks so yummy next to your beautiful skin. I've not looked at thrift stores for sewing, now I know I should. Yes, the little red pepper on the pin cushion is for sharpening pens. I love your videos, you are so fun and beautiful.
Thank you so much, I am so ready for Spring, but the wool coat makes me feel alright that we've had a few chilly days recently! I need to get it to the dry cleaner and stored for next Fall/winter. I look forward to using the pin sharpener moving forward. I just overhauled some of my bent and knicked pins with the new ones I got in this haul and it has made a great difference in the fabric prep process! I like thrifting because of the added enjoyment that comes with the thrill of the hunt, so I often go thrifting first and then to my local fabric store if i don't find what I'm looking for. But I do appreciate that its not always practical and can be time consuming, but it's so much FUN! Happy sewing!
Yes, vintage buttons are the BEST! I am truly in awe of the beautiful buttons I've found, I even wrote a poem about it! hahah, don't worry the poem will be coming soon! I also have a ric rac dress by Zimmermann that I hope to recreate this spring/summer and I will be needing more Ric rac to complete it!
That wash away wonder tape is *golden*. I love the stuff. I'm quite interested in that sweet tailors marking tool. I might see if my local fabric store has it next time I'm in. Fun haul, thanks for sharing. I love thrifting and finding sewing goodies:)
Thanks for watching, Rikki! I would have to absolutely agree with you about the wonder tape. i am so sad that I'll have to buy some more at regular price after seeing how valuable it is! It worked wonders for allowing me to match my waistline seam when inserting the zipper in my sew yellow for endo dress. so much faster than hand basting! Also, that marking tool is another game changer! I linked it from Amazon in the description box if you wanted to get the product name and details for your search at your local stores, I hope you can get your hands on it!
Yes keep looking Whitney, I know how important sustainability is to you, so i feel this would be right up your alley, but I also know it can be a bummer when the local stores don't have gems frequently, but its great that you have your ambassadorship with Destashify, that's perfect!!
I just lit 3 of them during meal time today! It smelled like a confectioners dream tollhouse in here, I love it! Being a candle lover was a part of my vision for who I want to be when I grow up! I used to love walking into friends homes with the smell of candles, it felt sophisticated and refreshing! I'm on my way there!
@@TIMAbyFK I grew up in the 1970’s UK and we had loads of power outages (due to people on strike) and as a kid I got so excited everytime the lights went out and would rush to get the tin of candles …. I absolutely loved the rooms being lit by candles …. Then when scented candles became a thing I had my own house by them so have ALWAYS had candles burning everywhere…. I also love wax melts 💖💖
Me too, Mary! Seriously, I even used the marking tool on the red silk when i was making that shirt and I was pleasantly surprised I didn't have to apply a ton of pressure to make a mark.
Great haul. I love the coat. I usually go to 2nd Avenue in Columbia, MD. The next time I go, I will be looking to see if they have a sewing section. Thanks
I am not out near Columbia often, but I went to your JoAnn Fabric store out there before and was blown away, and I always make a stop at the 2nd Ave, it HUGE, I did not used to look for sewing things, back when I visited, but next time I'm in that direction, I'll have to remember to pass by!
My grandma told me about the little strawberry when she sewed during my youth. And every time I run into a snaggy pin, I just poke it into the strawberry until it’s smooth. Great finds!!! You found all of this thrifting? I need to try thrifting in MD. I did find some great table cloths and curtain fabric I will be using for clothing at the 2A in the Ft Belvoir area over here in Alexandria.
YES! I have been very lucky at some of my local thrift stores. In a previous job, when I traveled throughout the DMV more, I would try and find thrift stores in various areas. that was fun, but I was more into clothing then and not sewing as much, so I can't imagine what I may have missed out on :) Woop woop for great curtains and table cloths they can often be natural fibers too! Also I sometimes look at the bed skirts and curtains that have broderie anglaise and fancy edges.
HAHHA OH OK, that makes sense! I was trying to assign a crafty use, I also considered that it could be for selecting beads lol Thanks for clarifying this!
