Your knowledge of vintage & antique items is amazing. I love how you combine things to sell. Sewing notions always catch my eye. Just never knew if they were sellable. I keep too much for myself!
Great finds! I am in charge of the sewing/crafting area at the second-hand shop I volunteer at and your videos are so helpful. I have collected vintage sewing items for years, starting with my great uncle’s buttons, thread, etc - he was a tailor. I was lucky enough to get a box of vintage sewing patterns at a garage sale for $1 and need to make some bookmarks using your instructions. Thanks for such great ideas for crafting with vintage items!
My secret hoard - sewing notions. Buttons, patterns, pin cushions, scissors and everything in between. I even have several boxes of both my grandmothers' sewing supplies. They both made lace. One did bobbin lace and the other tatted. I do sell sewing notions, buttons and trims, but they don't sell as well as at my old antique mall. Thank you for the info. Sharing.
What wonderful heirlooms Donna. I do admire the work that goes into tatting--such detailed work! I pretty much only sell jars of buttons and scissors from my booth. I sell other notions on eBay :)
Great finds as always! I would be so tempted to make pillowcases to put that trim on! Lace on spools with your bottle brush trees would be lovely, too! I would sew those MOP buttons onto a faux button card and frame them! I would super glue earring backs onto those rhinestones! I would use those cords for Christmas ornament hangers! Maybe for tags, too.
Thanks for sharing these ideas~ (: There's a used sewing supplies shop near me that's run by a local senior center, and they have a lot of these things. It's good to know the old threads, cording and lace trims are so sellable!
I'm amazed that you can sell those things like the trims and spools for example. I don't have much luck with them myself, but I love your idea of the scissors inside the spools, and the buttons in a pretty jar! I have tons of buttons on hand, and have been looking for ideas.
I love buttons. My Grandaughter and I belonged to the Nat. Button Society at one time. But I moved to an area where there are no meetings. Anyeone interested could go to their website. 🖌🎨ps : Thank you for the free downloads you offer. I will be using the button cards to display buttons.
