I just finished Bunny and absolutely loved it. My favorite read of the year so far. The Return is so good. I think Rachel Harrison's more recent books tend to be cozier horror, and I think The Return actually had a darker atmosphere. I had to DNF Such Sharp Teeth. You have to read The Celery Stalks at Midnight and Howliday Inn!
Oh yay for loving Bunny so much! It is weird but what a ride! Oh no, I am so sorry to hear you DNFd Such Sharp Teeth. I think I might try next Black Sheep since I just recently got it I definitely want to read all the other books in the Bunnicula series. I will try to find them asap
Thank you!! It was an intense week of traveling with my parents but I enjoyed the time off and quality time with them. I did miss you guys ans reading. A week without reading was so weird.
Ahh I am glad you could still enjoy as good as dead overall even if it isn't your favourite of the holly jackson's you've been reading. And I don't like when a character feels so different at the end of a book or in a different installment in a series. I am so unsure of bunny because it sounds so weird and unique? And everyone is quite vague about it like you are. But it sounds like the writing and atmosphere is so promising. So maybe I should give it a go?! I'm not sure!! I did like that kind of vibe in everything the darkness eats by eric larocca for example. And the bunnies characterisation is kind of giving mean girls as well :P Ahaha and then at that exact moment you said mean girls in the video :D I NEED to read an education in malice as it is vampirism and dark academia and I love both those things!! And it is really surprising to see you have a favourite in that genre. And I like that it has some loose ties to carmilla as well. And that both girls POVs are such good ones. I have this one waiting for me on my shelf actually and at the moment I am in a vampire mood and reading my vampire books, so this is a priority!!
A Good Girls Guide to Murder is such a great series but the third book is kind of bittersweet because she did not feel like herself. I think you want to start reading it because you haven't so I will not spoil it. But I think it is still worth it if you enjoy YA murder mysteries. I do love Holly's writing. Bunny is so bizarre. Definitely a book I normally would not read but also quite dark and atmospheric. Maybe get a second hand copy and give it a shot and if it is not for you, pass it on 😅An education in malice caught me by surprise. I did enjoy A Dowry of Blood but I was not expecting to love this one so much. Like...who am I? I think you will love it too.
So glad you enjoyed time with your parents, Kasha. 🥰 And your description of Bunny is hilarious. Doesn't sound like my cup of tea but glad you enjoyed it. 😁 Bunnicula I may have to check out. Sounds like fun. 🐰 Looks like you had a pretty good March reading month. Hope April is going well too. 📚☕️🐈⬛️ Btw sorry I'm so late to this video, I'm trying to catch up. 🙈
Listen, I am the one that is late in life here hahaha I need to get back to you and we need to arrange a meeting 🎃🎃 virtually sadly hahaha Bunny is definitely really bizarre and not for everyone. I think you might not get into it. But Bunnicula...those books might be the cozy fun reads you like. Your library probably has them since they are popular kids books.
Thank you for this wonderful video, Kasha! Unfortunately, I didn’t really get to read much in March but I started The Remaking by Clay McLeod Chapman.👻
I was disappointed in As Good As Dead because I loved the first 2. As an adult it had the YA thing I hate where I wanted to shake her regularly and tell her to stop sabotaging herself and being an idiot, which was so not Pip. I am definitely going to check out the new one, though.
😭 I was also very disappointed to see her decisions specially towards the end of the third book. But I did enjoy the novella and would love to see more of Pip...the Pip we know and love
Glad to know someone else feels the same way about As Good As Dead. Sure it was something different in forms of entertainment and in the moment fun to read but looking at it as a concluding chapter of a trilogy, it is actually a really crappy ending to give to all characters, not to mention that it turns from an investigative murder mystery into some kind of vigilante/how to get away with murder (the show) type of thriller that was a complete tone mismatch from the rest of the story. Rant over 😀 i still claim the first one but as a whole, not so much. Also Pip needed therapy and a support network, not what she ended up doing
hahaha we need to rant about that ending. It's not that the book or the story or even the murder was bad. It was well written but it did not feel like AGGGTM and I was so disappointed to see the decisions Pip made specially in the ending ending....I felt cheated LOL
Same! I pushed through to finish it and luckily it was a quick read so I could get to the end. Guess I was hoping the end was going to save it...but nope
