The dome houses were built in the '80's by Bob Lee. There were luxurious. Water wells were a problem. Storms moved the shore a good 100 yds. east. There were several other houses nearby all now washed away.

This whole Hobie series is great! It just shows you that you don't need to have a whole lot of boat to have a whole lot of adventures. I used to sail a Halcat; (similar to the Hobie but made here in South Africa); on the Vaal dam, which is a very large, meandering inland body of water. The fun we had was fantastic. Never thought about turning it into a cruiser though dammit! Got plenty of ideas now though, just a few decades too late. Loving the videos Sam; thanks. (If you like the dinghy cruising concept; check out Roger Barnes.)

Hey Sam, thanks for the video. In case you haven't heard a thousand too many opinions already... I would suggest checking out whitewater rafting gear to carry and rig stuff onto your hobie. It wouldn't add much weight but could potentially keep your stuff more solidly attached to your boat...

I think some 6 inch pvc pipe would make awesome storage for the things you need at camp or when you get the your destination. The pipes could easily be lashed to the legs on the trampoline, or replace the wood pieces you used to frame your bow netting.

If you havent already, i would suggest you replace your shrouds and stays with new ones. Cheap investment in major safety factor for the G Stream crossing. Old ones break after years of hidden corrosion. Bang- mast goes down. Happened to me. Keep your old ones for back up.

Hi Sam, You need a gps satellite phone, flare gun , and an airhorn. Also, you should take all that weight off of the bow. It does not take anything at all to bury the front leeward haul, and over you go. Whatever you decide, always error on the side of caution. May God protect you both.

You might consider some netting to put over your containers to secure them to the boat. I pray it doesn't happen and I'm not trying to jinx you kids but those little kats can flip. If that were to happen having to try to recover all that gear as it floats away could be a pain or even impossible. Not sure just a thought. I love watching you kids Sam because you're getting out there and doing it instead of an old codger like me who sits here land locked typing on a keyboard...
