As a Filipino, I am proud to hear my president declare the necessity of a peaceful rules based order for the world where moral ascendancy not military might is the prime determinant. Philippines has reestablished our peaceful rules based democracy where votes of citizens not threats of private armies determine our leadership and direction, and we see it is good.

So much so, that he laid the foundation and framework of our claim and brought our cause to the fore in such a prestigious international forum as the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. What he said can be corroborated (fact-checked) with legal basis. It seemed far-fetched in the past that what Benigno Aquino, III started was dutifully continued and expanded by Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. Who would have thought? Maybe it's hightime to bury the hatchet between the Marcos-Aquino rivalry and re-channel that energy for a common cause. Maybe this is what will make this country great again - Ang Bagong Lipunan. And if we all unite, maybe there's still reason to believe that "the Filipino is worth dying for." His term is not over yet, but BBM has already secured his legacy by furthering our cause in the West PH Sea. History will remember him for this.
