My man Alex Han on alto. Once him, me and the fellas went out to eat at the Waverly Diner in NYC. The security guard who I'd never seen before did not want to let me in. I was a regular customer: I'm positive he got me confused w someone else. Anyway, Alex got up in the dude's grill and let him know after which the whole 5or 6 of us bounced. Even some of my honors wouldn't have done that. I didn't know him that well at the time. But that's what kinda dude he is. Comes out in his playing,

Wow where have I been not listening to this type music. Marcus on Bass is awesome ,he needs to be a little louder ,all though the second song comes out sounding good on bass. He is the best slap bass player ever.

If you have never seen Marcus Miller before and love smooth and funky jazz, I recommend you see his concert and you will see what I mean. I saw him in 2015 at the Lowcountry Jazz Festival in North Charleston, SC and got his brand new CD, Afrodeezia. But also I got something extra, his autograph and shook his hand.

I see everybody commenting on the mix, & I assure you that it's not his fault! I was there, we(the RH Factor) played after Marcus, & when I tell you that this show, as well as Ours, almost didn't happen?? MAJORRR Audio problems!! 1 of the worst I've seen! his FOH guy is Great, but under These circumstances on this day? It was nothing he could do! They delayed it as much as they could to try & fix, but they had to roll with it, as is & it never did get all the way right! So be easy on em :-)

Time passes, Marcus gets always better! Great great great.

He is playing the bassline to Flashlight by Parliament Funkadelic at about the 40:00 Min mark!Awesome spot to put that in.

so little low end - like a guitar! needs more Base - it's an ultra clean metallic sound - yet great rhythm, and funk though! gotta love the MM attack touch always. it's just his choice of bass (maple neck, active electronics) and mix - gotta respect tat, and let's face it - seems to work for him on a global scale !

& a HUGE shout out to the Homey Louis Cato on drums, still recovering from his spinal injury from the Tour bus crash they had last year. This was his 1st show back, & one of his vertebrae was still messed up, but he fought through it, Crazy! He changed his setup to try and minimize his movement. Tough young man...& an Extremely talented Drummer, & Bassist!! And guitarist & vocalist as well!! Lol....

Name some artists that you listen to that avoid your above set list sins...it's totally ok to criticize, but have something t back it up...then you might either educate some folks or at the very least start some spirited discourse about the merits or lack thereof, of the suggestions you've made. Anyone that knows and doesn't like Marcus Miller has probably stayed away from this and any of his other videos on here...and you are?

Such a talent, shame about the crap sound, buried bass sounds like too many open mics on stage not being used and god awful high pitch ring from the room reflecting back in.

Good picture quality and nice frequency response but the entire drum set is almost 90 degrees sent to the right audio channel. Pretty annoying to listen to.

Marcus's bass is terribly mic'd/mixed. Such a shame, but his tone has all the brightness with none of the midrange punch that is typical of his tone. A great performance regardless.

If Marcus Miller is SUPPOSED to be the featured musician why is the rest of the band so much more louder than he is? There are times when you can't even hear the bass. The sound crew definitely needs to up their game ...other than that excellent concert. 👍

For all you MM haters! Seems all you non-musicians have no concept of a great composer? If you would just listen to how Marcus wrap his self into a song you would understand his greatness? There not many artist like Marcus. I know there's a lot of great bass players maybe better than Marcus but they lack his ability to work a song like Marcus can. Case in point SMV Pendulum just put your good ear on this song and I'll bet most of you people will could never play it in your life...

On "Slippin' into Darkness" (1:01:45), undoubtedly, this is the greatest bass performance I've ever seen! Marcus' facial expressions adds an element that makes it even more enjoyable to watch!

Not as poetic as Jaco perhaps, but has done very respectable and varied work writing and producing for the likes of Miles (Tutu) and Luther (Any Love) among others.

So much groove... a lesson for all those virtuoso wannabes. True music is more groove than technique. But if you have them both, you may end up were Mr. Miller is...
