Hello from Paris! Marcus Miller speaks French well enough to always be understandable! He loves France, often comes to concerts here, even in halls that do not exceed 500 people, and has collaborated with French artists like Claude Nougaro or France Gall. (Which you should probably not know in the USA)! Beautiful day in Seattle :-)
Band personnel: Marcus Miller David Chiverton- Drums Bobby Sparks- Organ & Keyboards Alexis Lombre- Keyboards Donald Hayes- Alto Saxophone Russell Gunn- Trumpet Tom Ibarra- Guitar
Thank you very much for these clarifications Alexis :-) We met you backstage after the Marcus Miller concert at "la Seine Musicale" in Paris, and we had hoped to see you again in New York at the Blue Note... You said you would be there ! Unfortunately, you were not when Ledisi was a guest star, it was Julian Pollack who replaced you ! We hope to see you again at a future Marcus concert in France... Or one of your own concerts ;-) Who knows 😊
A big thank you, I will add other excerpts from this same concert later. You also have on my channel videos made 3 weeks later at the Blue Note in New York! Always in 4K!
I agree with you, i had only recognized Russell Gunn with his trumpet ! All the other team was brand new ! Alexis Lombre who was on the keyboard left a comment with the names of all the musicians who were on stage. Now, I don't know if for a single concert in Paris (whose date had been postponed for 6 months because of COVID) the other usual musicians weren't already taken elsewhere... The rest will tell us if the old ones will come back ... Or not !
@@Olivier_Debats I wonder if he took his line up cues from Miles in changing his musicians every few years. I remember the late 80s/ 90s with Poogie Bell, Patches Stewart, Federico Pena , Gregoire Mahre, Hiram Bullock then transitioning to Alex Bailey, Alex Han, Adam Agati, Sean Jones et al. Bobby Sparks was with him decades ago when he toured with Lalah Hathaway. God, I've been following Marcus forever! Saw him in an interview recently and he's got specs on!
It's great to have seen his progress and the different musicians he has worked with! I know that for his tour in France this summer, he will call on Alex Han again. I also draw your attention to a new keyboard seen in New York 3 weeks after this concert in Paris, his name is Julian Pollack and he is quite impressive... It's the first time I've seen him, he's already worked with Miller during a concert in Lugano in 2019. We'll have to take a look at him ;-)
Many thanks, I will add other excerpts from this same concert later. You also have on my channel videos made 3 weeks later at the Blue Note in New York! Always in 4K!
Became good friends with them when I lived in lancs. Lineup's unrecognisable from being then; eg Pete was on guitar, Jesse on knitting machine etc. They were and are fab live, go see em when you can!!
So sorry !
Ronald Bruner got out since more than 10 years ago. The last drummer who performed on the previous tours, and last albums was @TeamAlexBailey. He is a good bassist too.
Apart from Russel Gunn, it was the first time for the rest of the musicians! Maybe this explains it... But there are other tracks (including the one that will be released tomorrow) where the musicians really rock!
I think Marcus Miller is starting to get bored, that's normal. Indeed, he has reached the top of his art. Now he needs someone who will be for him what he was for Miles Davis. Contrary to what many people may think, this "tutu" with African sounds is bad.
