I remember seeing woodstock 98 on mtv i was about 6 years old. Hard to believe it was 14 years ago and today im listening to the same songs i listened to as a kid. Just trippy is all i can say. But amazing song. I like at the end he has the strings muted and strums over them. " thats a cool sound"
Ive only heard sex and candy and one night I was on acid so I decided too listen too there first album and absolutely left me mesmerized this band is literally perfect
AGH! Why haven't I seen this!? I'm always looking for live Marcy Playground videos! I love this song and this performance and John's voice and EVERYTHING! Thanks! :D
Still love the way he does the intro- combination of strumming and picking. I keep telling myself to look up the tab/chord progression and play it. I wish I could afford a Porsche that comes with opium.... LoL (Yes, i know it's "pusher", but the background noise kind makes it sound like Porsche...when pronounced correctly.) Luckily, my seizures don't come from opium.
To me, this is honestly one of the happiest songs in the world... It just makes me think of the feeling that opiates give. What may seem to sad to an onlooker is really bliss.
@NotIkeman Idk dude, i think that it adds to the affect. He is so down and depressed, while everyone else is happy and excited. It gives that "never alone, alone all the time" affect. I love it
One of the few singers these days whose voice actually sounds exactly like his recordings. Those stupid MTV-pushed woodstock concerts from the 90s lol. Man that was pathetic. Reminds me of the Hippy Music Festival episode of south park People (including me) were basically instructed by MTV as to what was cool for about 15 years. Good thing the M in MTV disappeared. I foolishly believed MTV was the pinnacle of musical talent when in fact I could already play most of the songs I was listening to
You can buy opium pods on the internet, and make a tea out of it, you get a bunch of morphine and codiene, but the price has gone up on them drastically over the past year
dude that is definitely not bliss. he's trying to sing about heaven and hell and he's upset because he knows the audience is going to misinterpret and think it's just a 'yay do drugs and dont think' song. thats my interpretation anyway but if you listen to the rest of their music its pretty obvious
its about drugs but not in a good way. pretty well crafted; he says things like "i'm so happy" in a tone that shows he really isnt, showing how drugs make you think youre doing great when you clearly arent
Wow, I'm just gonna say besides how great marcy playground is, how cute he was back then. Sorry if that offends anyone. People seem to be so sensitive about youtube comments these days
Oriente7 almksy every band does it thays how tgey gey you to secretly like songs. Especially if you have a 7 album contract and obky have 3. .lol some bands will play same chords for mosy of their songs and nobody even notices haha "it's just 'there' sound"
