In this video, New Orleans tour guide, Andrew, takes you on a tour throughout much of the city to explain to you some of the traditions of New Orleans Mardis Gras celebrated here, both in the past and particularly for 2021. FULL NOLA PLAYLIST • New Orleans Virtual Tours
Your tour begins on St. Charles Ave. before heading to the French Quarter. You will then get a tour inside of Mardi Gras World before heading over to Armstrong Park to learn about Mardi Gras Indians. For the finale, Andrew will take you to see some of the homes that have been decorated as floats, know as the Krewe of House Floats, the main adaptation for 2021.

I, too, have a house float in Jax, FL. I seem to be the only one I've seen so far. Lame. Luckily, there is a restaurant near by where the owners/cooks are from the city and they're having a Mardi Gras party, so I'm going there in full costume this year! Laissez les bon temps rouler! 💜💚💛

Andrew, thanks so much for your videos. I have learned so much from you. My daughter and son-in-law moved to NOLA , his hometown, in March, 2020. My daughter is learning a lot by living there while I am learning and discovering NOLA from you and the interwebs. Your videos are so interesting with details that are not found anywhere else. Just wanted to say I miss you New Orleans!!!! I work in a hospital and I'm under a travel ban from my employer as an effort to keep people safe but I do know what it means to miss New Orleans!!! I have spent every birthday since my 50th in New Orleans except last year and this year ( birthday is in January and I'm always there for The Joan of Arc Krewe!!!)...I also had plans to spend Halloween with you and that got cancelled. Just wanted to say you are THE BEST CITY IN AMERICA AND YOUR CITIZENS ARE THE BEST THAT AMERICA HAS TO OFFER AND NEW ORLEANS IS THE BEST PLACE I'VE EVER BEEN!!!!....FIRST CHANCE I GET I'M SO THERE!!!!

Thank you so much for taking me on a personal tour and educating me on the fascinating history. Always wanted to go to Mardi Gras and almost did one year, but finances and life choices took my energies in different directions. Am now 74 and have an invasive cancer diagnosis. Doubt that I will ever get to go in person, perhaps my spirit will from the other side of time. I so enjoyed the tour and seeing how creativity once again instills hope and joy into our lives. If I had the gift of time to go to New Orleans I would go to the museums you spoke of and I would visit the spots you pointed out. Thank goodness for the internet that gives such as myself the gift of inclusion even if we are physically excluded as many are in the pandemic setting. I can put a half check off my bucket list. Love your stuff, Andrew, especially as it pertains to New Orleans and Mardi Gras. Got bit by the Mardi Gras bug when I visited for two weeks leading up to Mardi Gras 1983. (Read about in the history books, Andrew.) Have been ahead of the curve with home outdoor decorations for years and customarily host my employees for a Mardi Gras luncheon at my home. Sadly, not in 2021. Had toned down my outdoor decor since I am not hosting and a storm tore my Mardi Gras flag to shreds two weeks ago, but you inspired me to put out a little more Mardi Gras sparkle in my neighborhood. Thanks!

I've been to New Orleans 8 times! (Never during Mardi Gras btw! Andrew really knows his stuff! Really informative and for someone like me who's never been there, it was really interesting to see what goes on behind the Mardi Gras. I did wince a little when I saw the plastic beads left in the trees as you just know they'll end up in the watercourse then the ocean as they fall apart but hopefully the less harmful options will become more of the norm in future. Good luck to the people of New Orleans - next year will be better for all of us! :)

This was AWESOME!!!! Never been to New Orleans. Always wanted to; perhaps one day I will get my chance. The history first is my interest in New Orleans, then Mardi Gras. Given that I am older now, when we do go back to some kind of normal.... I think I will stay in the outskirts of the parade. My biggest interest is the History of New Orleans. This video provided plenty of History and I know there is much, much, more..... My favorite part was the story of Chief Doodie (may not have the correct spelling -sorry). The Native American influence; which I was saying to myself "that has to be part of the history". But, here I did get to hear the Native American influence to some level. Again, I know there is more history there too. Love the tree beads and how to make beads more Earth friendly. The king cake- knew about. Didn't know they could be made of cheesecake. I just made a cheesecake this weekend not realizing I was in line with Mari Gras. The cake was Diabetic friendly- but you never would have known. Love the Yardi Gras idea! The food and music another reason I want to go to New Orleans. I am from NYC and our Mardi Gras is the Halloween Village Parade. So, this year again cancelled due to Covid. Last time it was cancelled was Hurricane Sandy. Many New Orlenians came up the following Halloween to party with us on your Halloween Parade. Which was great!!! The costumes, floats, decorations and energy that Mardi Gras fuels is the same as our Halloween Parade. I make my costume every year and decorate for Halloween. So this video was a great alternative. I know it's not the same but, I felt like I was in New Orleans.

Andrew could you please do a tour of yard gras in the future or something close to the days of the parade, your walking tours a great info. Our travel party was in town a few years ago before and after departure for a cruise, loved everything we seen and experienced. The only thing we didn't have enough time for was the ww2 museum tried to see it in one day wasn't enough very moving. Also caught a shooting of NCIS near the French market. Keep them coming, great work !!!!!!!

Im so excited about this year. Im from a northern state and have came down to Nola for Mardi Gra many times. My family and i are so excited. Im older and i think im going like touring this year more, no crouds to fight through! I downloaded the Game App but cant get in to it? I Never knew about the craft place Your Video is so informative and helpful! Thank You. I Will be going to make a souvenir. By the way, i got a Beautiful Ceramic Mask from a parade once, and a glitter covered Mask too. Not to mention all the freat stuff my Grandchildren have gotten. They havent missed a year in 10! A giant gator for one. Our Baby girl use to ride it. Lol. LOVE MARDI GRA! I have some nice videos and pics i would share if i knew how. Lol

Andrew, my husband and I ride on The Supertucks float. Top level, back two spots, sidewalk side. I Have glass beads. If you walk back to tchop and napoleon I can give you a big bag of stuff . We have saints players on a float in our parade.
