Day 2 of my week long solo Adriatic Cruise and its a sea day, cruising along the coast of Croatia on board the Marella Cruises cruise ship Marella Explorer 2
Its a Sea Day so join me as I take you on a tour of the ship and then enjoy a day of relaxation by the pool and a night of excellent entertainment.

Looks really nice. We're on the Discovery 2 in about a month, our first time with Marella. But I already get the feeling we're going to like them a lot, and probably end up on their other ships too! Great itinerary you've got here, looking forward to living vicariously :D

Another great video Gaz, that reinforces why MEX2 is my favourite ship in the fleet! Dont recognise the CD Phil, though that ship seems to go through Cruise directors! every time im on its a new CD, whereas bn the other ships they seem to be more long term. Really miss Ted James on MEX 2, not been the same since he left. Hoping im going to have a great team onboard in Dec for the repo to the Carribean, doing the one back next March aswell! I find that the longer repositioning cruises offer much better value for money, summer prices have increased significantly. Good to see you had a great time onboard.

Thanks for this, Gary, it was very useful. We've never cruised before and are due to go on the 28th! (Explorer one) I saw you booked to go into Zadar, how necessary do you think it is to buy these trips on the ship? Is it possible (usually or ever) to just get off the ship and do it yourself? Thank you.

Firstly thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. I’ve been on Explorer 1 as well - it’s slightly different than 2, but just as good. You can definitely just get off the ship and do your own thing in a lot of ports. In the case of Zadar they offered a shuttle bus for £6, but if there’s a few of you a taxi might work out cheaper. The old town was a long way to walk from the ship. However for all the other ports this cruise I just got off and had a walk. However it is worth checking out the ship’s tours as well - I met plenty of people who went on tour to Venice, the waterfalls and Slovenia - not something I’d risk in my own. People do book independent tours as well, which can be cheaper, but the ship only guarantees to wait for delayed Marella trips. As a tip if they offer a walking tour of the port I take that as a sign you can walk it yourself. Also check out street view on Google Maps to see where you dock. Mostly though have a great time!!

Hi Gary loving your vlogs really informative. We're going later this year and was wondering about the bus into sauda (not sure I spelt that right) is it a return and do they have set times for way back to ship.

Thanks for watching, glad you’re enjoying them. Not sure of that port, but the one for Zadar was well organised. They started at 8.30am apparently (I was asleep!!) and last one back was 4pm ish - though they tell you the last bus times in the cruise news and when you get off the ship. You can come back when you want. Tickets were £6 return and It was first come first served in the bus queues. You’ll see that one on next week’s episode!!
