The Computer History Museum honors Margaret Hamilton for her leadership and work on software for DOD and NASA's Apollo space missions and for fundamental contributions to software engineering.
For over 25 years, the Computer History Museum Fellow Awards have honored distinguished technology pioneers for their outstanding merits and significant contributions to the advancement of computer history and evolution of the Information Age. The Fellow Awards are an extension of the Computer History Museum’s overarching vision to explore the computing revolution and its impact on the human experience.

She did quite a badass feat of software engineering, and not only that but as a *woman* and *in the 1960s* In my opinion there are a lot of women who would be great talents in software development, who don't know it yet

paula ma - Marilyn Monrow was an actual woman, so what are the quotation marks representing? She is well known to practically everybody because her work was entertaining the public. People who do not present themselves to the public in the course of their work cannot be so well known, whether male or female. They can, however, become well known to their professional peers, which is why we have professional awards and other ways of bringing attention to otherwise obscure people of great accomplishment.

I love this! It just goes to show you can be EXTREMELY bright, but explain things in simple terms. Clearly Ms. Hamilton is one of the brightest engineers to ever walk the Earth, yet she seems so approachable! What an achievement! I don't understand the weird voice-over edit at 5:25 when she discusses being a woman engineer. Hmm.

That switch in the wrong position that Margaret refers to causing signal overloads to the AGC wasn't switched in the right position before landing as she states. It was discovered afterwards. Margaret's diagnostic software was able to communicate the overload error but mission control and the astronauts decided to successfully work through it all the way to the moon's surface.
