Yeah they totally flipped the story line of having Maria dead. It made sense from start to leave it open ended instead of fumbling with those unused victims voice lines of them finding her body and having her take a face full of leatherface chainsaw in Petals.
I think it's still open-ended if she's alive to become a playable character or dead. While Virginia found a barely alive Maria and tried to escape with her, they were caught and separated again. Who knows if Maria is still alive after being captured a second time, especially in the condition she was in. It's a possibility since Johnny likes her a lot and even Nancy notices that Maria might be different from the other girls Johnny has hunted. But like with most media in the horror genre, until we see a dead body, she might be alive... but as Johnny says, 'Family comes first'. As for the audio lines of characters reacting to Maria's body found in the game files, they were probably all batched recorded with the rest of the audio for possibly use in the future. Until those audio files are use in the game and not sitting around gathering dust where most of the player base can't hear them, they shouldn't be considered canon but a future possibility. Honesty, this a good idea to keep it a mystery for as long as they can while giving us little pieces of the puzzle. It's keeping interest in the game in a unique way that appeals to a percentage of the player base. Because of that, while there is a possibility that she will become a playable character in the future, I don't think it's guarantied to be the next victim.
Bro yes she is dead bc they said that Maria will never be a victim in there podcast and stated that there will not be. A Maria victim but probably dead definitely but they still said she will not be a victim and plus what’s the e point of hoping she’s alive if she’s not being a victim
I believe these leaks are true. In the first movie, Maria was the only survivor of this crazy family, and frankly, it's no surprise they did this, Gun Media owns the rights to the first movie. Thank you very much for the information schnitte ❤❤
