Ah gap moe... love it. Maria has quickly become my personal underdog of Iluna. Usually I am not a fan of the super cutesy archetype but Maria is so much more. She isn´t just some one note "cutesy girl does cutesy things" actor.

Rimworld music is a ~vibe~ for this topic, anyways here’s any extra info I remember about the videos topics as I hear them in the video; The brass bull- used often as a method of execution, a person is sealed within a brass bull, the belly of which is above a fire pit. A pipe then wove it’s way out of the bull’s mouth and nose to supposedly make the sounds of a bull. This one is more of a “probably didn’t exist, but maybe” thing as we have none that lasted to now, and it’s thought to potentially have been used more as a propaganda tool. I have 0 idea about the mercury neck nape thing, assume it’s some sort of just twisted death sentence. Horrible histories was sick! Best show cbbc had! I’ve heard of the Persian/Egyptian one of slathering them in honey and sour milk to have them eaten by bugs, it’s pretty grim. Would rather the bull tbh. Also, while true that a lot of these things were made by cruel people who were powerful and bored, the medical side that she brought up at the end (bloodletting being a part of it) was at the time the best methods they had devised for these sorts of things. Obviously we know now that it’s absolutely nuts to think taking a pint of blood will help you with a fever, but you have to remember up until recent times (like, 1900’s recent) we barely understood what a cold or what influenza was, much less how to combat it! it's always weird when you realise such a huge part of our modern medical knowledge is a result of WW1/WW2 turning out to be the biggest human testing grounds. Let it be about burns, freezing or blunt trauma or whatnot
anyone who grew up watching History channel has 100% come across shows discussing topics related to this. I mean the fact she mentioned the bull first and that is one of the things I clearly remember from History TV makes it quite obvious and then access to internet can really feed the curiousity. Also you'd be surprised what curiosity makes people discover- let it be this or poisons or wars or whatnot
