It's ashamed that they changed the rules after JLO released her remixed of "I'm Real" with Ja Rule! Still can't get over the fact that it was actually Ashanti singing!.... Mariah did hint that she wanted to when Caution came out, but wasn't able to. Maybe coz Cardi B said she couldn't. But all in all, record labels might be too scared to take the chance since it don't help the original version on the charts any more.

As time goes on, it really saddens me that people don't realise how talented this woman actually is and how much she pioneered with beats, samples, hooks, melodies, songwriting, producing, featured artists, and what shes had to contend with why still, albeit in a sarcastic way, putting love out there to those that try and take her down. She's a stellar talent. And it gets lost in the diva, bimbo label. She is so far removed from those its not even funny. Give this legend her dues. She's incredible. Hopefully it wont all get forgotten. If we could only see the work she's done from innception with her songs and contextualise them, I'm sure we'd be amazed.

You are one hundred percent right. My daughters who are ten and eleven years old were listening to a Mariah Christmas song earlier today and had no idea how popular she was. I told them they should download some of Mariah's old music and listen to one of the nest female singers of all time. Mariah was definitely a remix pioneer and Missy Elliott, Da Brat, Jermaine Dupri, Jay-Z and countless others should thank her everyday for the mainstream exposure.

The first time I saw this video, on MTV, long ago ( I was a fan since her debut, and about 16 at that time...), I HAD TO record it on a VHS tape! Yes, we did that! I showed it to my friends, and they LOVED this version much more than the original ( especially the boys, I wonder why, lol...). All jokes aside, both versions are excellent, but the remix is just awesome! And the video? Wow, just, wow! At that time it was crazy, how she almost « invented » the concept of remixing her songs the way she did. It was so original, and they’re all very good. « Fantasy », feat. O.D.B. , « I Still Believe ( Pure Imagination ) », « Thank God I Found You », are real gems too! Sorry for the rant. Greetings from France ☺️ ✌🏼

ladymay30 No she didn't. Remixes were a big part of black music and were released as their own singles which also became hits. Everything from R.Kelly's "Bump and Grind" remix to Method Man/Mary J. Blige "All I Need" remix and damn near every So So Def/Bad Boy remix. Mariah was merely riding a trend that was happening within the genre and although achieving major success doesn't mean she revolutionized anything.

You know you are talented AF and a real collaborator when your remix is just as good as the original song! As for Da Brat, I absolutely love the part where she is in her wedding dress and her facial expressions at Snoop Dog! It's like they are staring at their female or male version of each other! Love the scenes and how Mariah acts unbothered, striking poses, and behaving pretty while Da Brat and Missy slay in their lyrical genius! The entire video shots, angles, and theme was one of the major reasons why this musical era was so indelibly imprinted on many minds! Amazing song and version of the song!

This remix track is still fire all these years later. Mariah's vocal performance is incredible, Da Bratt rips her verses (highly underrated rapper), Missy's harmonies are amazing and one of my favorite parts of the track, Snoop is a good sport considering he's essentially being dissed in his own song.

Missy Elliott's harmony game was unique & still unmatched! And Mariah drizzlin' her crazy good sweet voice all over this grimey street beat was irresistiblly fantastic to my ears! Love it when Missy & Mariah collaborate. I really hope they master the remix to "A No No" (2018) soon!

@@gabyreveluv what’s fascinating is Missy tried to book her as a feature on “Da Real World”. Her & DMX were scheduled but couldn’t make it happen because the album’s deadline was approaching. Her song “Beat Biters” was even supposed to be the lead single; I think Missy gave a teaser of what the vid could’ve looked like via “Source” cover with her & Timbaland in the matrix.

This is probably one of the best collaborations in Mariah's discography. I love how bratt always brings out the party girl in Mariah lol their friendship is so cute. I also love how Mariah always shows respect to those she samples or covers from. For example, including Snoop in the video while using his song as a sample is so nice of her. Btw DJ Clue I see you boo, you fine as hell. 😉

@Anthony Casey West Coast? I’d just say it’s the all female Version. Mariah from New York, Missy is from Virginia and Da Brat is from Chicago, none of those places are on the West Coast. The only thing that has anything to do with the West Coast is the fact that Snoop Dogg is in the video. Or the fact that the instrumental was originally used by Snoop Dogg for his song called ain’t no fun.. featuring Nate Dogg & some other West Coast rappers .

Mariah’s remixes only increase her superior musicianship among female artists. This woman is arguably the greatest female artist of all time. All of her remixes sound just as good if not BETTER than the original song and she makes the remixes sound COMPLETELY brand new. She’s a hip-hop pioneer that doesn’t get a lot of credit either.
