There is no denying that Mariah has one of the greatest vocal ranges ,if not the best ,in the industry. Her voice is just beautiful and unique. It's not surprising that she still reigns supreme as one of the worlds greatest singers in history. In 100 years from now people will still be listening to her sing. Her voice transcends time and space.
@@judaspm4542 She has the largest vocal range out of any artist out there. You may not like her range, but she still has the largest and best range. She's seriously queen. It's funny that people can't recognize that because she got a bad name due to bad relationships, but she's always going to be queen.
who the fuck did this vídeo? like seriously! she needs to hire him or her again! no fancy backgrounds no fancy clothes just the same outfit and yet it captures the essence of the song specially the close up shots with her gorgeous self and that stunning beauty she has! natural hair natural everything! maaaan I wish she would do songs and videos like this! it's is so magical! puts you in a dream. after listening to this song I really want a dream lover.
3 decades and still a jam. The video itself is an eye candy just Mariah frolicking in the flower and grass fields. The HD music video just made the color more vivid and more nostalgic. I just noticed at the beginning of the music video was her “Dreamlover” who’ll come and take her away. This music video affirms MC’s love of water which she did in other music videos such as My All, I’ll Be Lovin U Long Time, and You’re Mine (Eternal). ❤
The Black women of the 80s/90s are something else. Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston (rip queen), Anita Baker, Sade Adu, Toni Braxton, Mary J Blige, Janet Jackson, Faith Evans, Lauryn Hill. Love them all!❤️
@@claytonbigsby6975 Do you not ever think of times from your past and smile and say "those were good times". Unless you die young everyone gets old. Live in the now but never forget where you came from it has shaped who you are today. ✌
Too bad she fell apart once she hit the wall. All girls do. I'm not sure why on Modern women insist on sleeping around till their 30 and then marry a Sim that they're not in love with because nobody else wants them like alphas and then they end up falling in the relationship because they marry the wrong person because they should have married the right person when they were younger await Alphas don't want to get married because the government side with women and end up screwing over the men financially
@@fatihakcora4647 Yeah it will happen again some time as life always comes full circle , but hopefully in our lifetimes 😭 I want an entire decade of great popular songs!!
All the 90s music videos kept on film are amazing to watch today. It’s unfortunately a lot of 2000s videos that were mastered on standard video only might be lost unless someone has film masters.
Today marks 30 years ago since the single Dreamlover was release back on July, 27th in 1993. One of the greatest hits from Mariah Carey ever recorded and great songs from the 90s. Happy 30th anniversary for a great and happy song and one of Mariah Carey best #1s from her musical catalogue. Such an uplifting jam and such a vocal suicide for singing hehehe
or dance to i danced to this in front of the dance team at my highschool in my senior year in 2011 and they wanted me so bad baby because I showed culture and I'm biracial too
***** You attempted to correct something that need no correction. With the apostrophe s ('s) on the 90 it's symbolizing that this song pretty much belongs to that year. In fact the term would make no sense without the apostrophe. #yourcorrectiongotcorrected #dipshit
yeah lol...I go back to his old videos on RU-vid and wonder what I ever saw in his voice and dance haha...but that's because I compare him to Chris Brown now lol...Michael was an upgraded James Brown...Chris Brown is an upgraded Michael Jackson, unfortunately media detroyed his image before he reached diamond status...You have to admit, Michael's affect on world culture will never be surpassed by any human period.
I just noticed that Mariah really takes her time to perfect her records. At the end of this song, I hear 3 layers of voices with perfect blending. Had to repeat a couple of times to hear it. MC deserves all the respect. #Legend
She does this in alot of her songs, I sing her alot in karaoke and the endings in particular I try to recreate the parts you don't hear right away, you have to really listen to hear them
She tells you in her Interviews back in the day about stacking layers of voice and blending them together... sometimes she thinks it might not work but in most times she then not it works.... I guess y'all don't listen to her old Interviews... she has one interview on how she created the album song by song whichever album the song honey was on...
She's definitely is a hit maker I love some of her less popular song's also. She sings each song with the intention of making it be number # 1. Truly God gifted talent. She is definitely one of a kind.
@@MR-ro6nf I didn't say she sings just for number #1s. Read what I wrote carefully. I said that Mariah Carey sings all of her songs so perfectly. That even her songs that didn't make it to number one sounds like number ones to me. That's why I said she sings all her songs with the potential of them becoming number one song's. So I'm basically saying that theirs really no song of hers that I don't love. I love all her music even the songs that didn't make it to number one.
I think I low-key agree! I haven’t felt a othr new artist has truly replace and taken that baton to the finish line how she did over n over! A lot of her songs were top hits!! No questions!
First time i heard that was back in early 92, because i was in malaysia backed in 93, i fell in love with that song the first time i heard that and so as " i don't wanna cry " and " emotion ".
Speaking as a classically trained singer, Miss Mariah is probably the most prolific singer in popular music. Her 5 octave range, combined with the whistle register, and her great use of melismas, make her stand alone. She can thank her operatic singing momma for those gifts! Thanks you, Miss Carey, for sharing your gift. 💕
Annette Church I am curious to know what you think of Christina Aguilera. You seem to know what you are talking about and I have seen it written many times that Christina stands alone in her talent.
In 1993, I was 12 years old and "Dreamlover" was my background music in my first crush. Now , 22 years later, this song still gives me tenderness and fills my heart with joy! Its magical power never ends !!!
After 30 mins of listening to 90s R&B you'll find yourself hating the trash they put out now. I always said I'd never be that old guy who hated on the next generation but dammit man they make it so f'n easy.
omh yes yes yes.. you are right and that's how I'm feeling right now and I feel like crying.. ohhh goosssshhhhhhhhhhh.. i feel soo bad u have no idea ..
+stratstan she didnt say she isnt beautiful but she is saying that she didnt need plastic surgery to make her pretty. She is already a beautiful woman.Which i agree with 100%
This song radiates joy and postivity. Just singing along to it when it comes on the radio in car, wind in your face, grateful for the little things in life. Dreamlover come rescue me! 😘❤
I have nothing against Ariana Grande. Yes she's talented as hell but how can anyone compare her to Mariah Carey? It's kind of like comparing Justin Bieber to the King of Pop, honestly.
+pamjam098 I like Ariana Grande, I have both of her albums, but people calling her the next "Mariah Carey" isn't anything but a gimmick for attention. What makes her the next Mariah? She has a good singing voice and covered the song "Emotions"? haha.. I've seen plenty of talented female pop artists come and go, and even some who could do whistles, but that did NOT make them the next Mariah Carey... Mariah Carey has an amazing voice, but it's her catalog of hits, and talent to write and produce music that is timeless that makes HER Mariah Carey... Let's see if anyone is talking about Ariana Grande in say, 10 years? And personally as much as I do like Ariana's music, none of it is as good or will have the longevity of Mariah's hits..
When this song was out, my friends and I were heavy into grunge, alternative rock, Suzanne Vega, 10,000 maniacs, Bjork, etc. But I always had Mariah in the car no matter how much fun they made of me, I always bought her cd’s. This was one of my faves! MC knows what a classic melody is and she was cranking them out in the 90’s.
There's just something about this song. Extreme nostalgia. You couldn't watch MTV or VH-1 without seeing this video. Impossible. I remember being 7 years old and begging my dad to take me to the Wherehouse to buy this tape. Music Box was actually my favorite song from the album. Music had a lot of variety which is what we are missing today.
WoW The Wherehouse! I forgot about that store. When I 1st heard this song I was at work and the radio was low. I said to myself that has to be Mariah Carey, I'D stop in mid order and turned up the radio. I was lucky because 6 days before the release of "Music Box" I was doing shopping meet in San Diego. when I stopped at this one music section I asked the guy " Do you have "Music Box by Mariah Carey?" He said hold on went to the back and came with it my eyes widen, and I smiled from cheek to the moon." He told not to tell anyone because he could get fined for selling it before the release date" I said okay and tipped him 5 dollars, because he made my day.
What a cool guy to the person who sold the album to you early , now that I think about it were it was way before security cameras and if it was today that guy would of been fired by now ! I maybe 3 at that time but damn those days were the best , the music , tv shows and living in a simple life I miss it !
its so touching to see how Mariah's music was so treasured back then i mean, i don't have the same background as yours experiencing her back in the day since I'm from Colombia, but I was raised with her music from her MTV unplugged album, so I always wondered how would have been to be in the USA at that period o time when Mariah rocked the world. and when i listen to this song its like u get into a dreamy mood, now days i can barely find good music and I'm so glad and bless I can always comeback to this woman to find relief and magic in her songs, I cant imagine the world without her contribution to the music. I wish now days she would realize this, and look at this video how she looked and how she acted, so natural and effortlessly sexy and gorgeous, this is the kinda diva behavior I wanna see from her... but, after all that she has giving to us u can only love her forever and ever!.
Great song! I was a teen in the 80's. Had Whitney Houston on cassette tape back then. This Mariah song reminds me of those days. Simple times! Carefree! Today is so different. Everyone face down in there cell phone, tablets, notebooks, laptops. Today we have social media online. Back then we actually sat in the same room & talked to each other before MySpace and Facebook came along. A song can really take you to another place in time. Good times!
I cannot lie. I only saw this video for the first time three days ago on VH1 Classic morning videos. I love it! Mariah looks great...like a simple & carefree country girl here.
Probably the most underrated songs of all time. It’s perfect. From the beat, to the lyrics(message given), subtle keyboard solo, pounding bass, bass drum. It’s literally perfect to me.
This song was overplayed in the 90s, on the radio, on CD players, in the mall. Everywhere you went this song could be heard. I remember my sister and her friends would play this over and over and over too. It was very annoying. Now I am sitting here, listening to Mariah Carey's beautiful voice, wishing for days of long ago. Watching this video and listening to this song invokes a feeling that I have not felt since that decade. Call me nostalgic, but I miss this song. The 90s were better times, and the music of that era had more talent, more spirit, more musicality and inspiration. This was a time before we had cell phones or internet. All we had was music. Growing up, people of all cultures and races were way more united back then because of music like this.
Yeah the 90s were great. Except for the sexism. And the racism. And the police brutality. And the war. And a lot of other things. Take off the rose colored glasses.
@@thekrillster3331 to be fair you can say that about now. sexism, racism, police brutality, and war are about the same as it was 30 years ago. nothing wrong with being nostalgic for when you were young and naive to the injustices of the world
Whoever directed this video did a great job. Painting a picture of this easy going tune by showing her frolicking in the poppy fields, good times with friends and swimming in a creek on a laid back sunny day. Always puts me in a better mood.
That was late summer 1993, I remember. I was only 25 when this song was on MTV almost every hour. It was fresh, it puts me in a good mood, just cool. Those were times when even I really liked Mariah - and that's saying a lot. 😁
***** Yes riots, racism, shooting, celebrity deaths, war, gross hippies and disease was harder to cure(wasn't until the 80s till the human population started growing). I would take the 80s ans 90s any day over the 60s, even Frank Zappa said the 60s were not even that good. Most people who thought the 60s were "good times" were people who were too high too remember it.
SavertonJr thankfully nowadays we live in a much better world overall (still full of problems but at least we evolved a lot from those days) AND we have internet so we have access to all these old songs from those eras :) best of both worlds imo!
Boy what high notes. I remembered when she first came out. I was working at night and to keep me from getting bored I was listening to the radio with my earplugs in my ear. While listening to the radio a voice came on. I said, "who is that." Vision of Love her first song off of her first cd.
I was 29 yrs old when this song came out. I was doing my MA at a prestigious university when I met the man of my dreams, fell in love and hit married. I’m still married to him today. This song made me feel so youthful, so alive, so in love. Despite this song being. Sry “bubblegum” I loved it and still do! I play it for my teenage kids now but they think I’m crazy. No matter, I still love this song and how young it makes me feel.
I never experienced the Mariah hype in the 90s but when I listen to this song and close my eyes, I feel like I'm in summer, driving a car with my friends enjoying these days😍
You missed out on a divine time. This song was in heavy rotation when I was a freshman in college in spring '94. I remember those times vividly; in part, because of this song and many others of similarly superior quality and nostalgic power.
everytime I tell ppl how great Mariah is, they'll say their favourites also have vocal power, range etc..but one thing no one has is the butter dreaminess of Mariah's tone. u can't train that because it is God's gift. MC will always be the Queen
@@heeheeriah not trying to defend OP, but nudity in the industry back then was not as prevalent as it is today. Talented artists were definitely more valued and also meaningful songs. You can't even see ballads charting/selling that high anymore.
