Emotions is the prime example of how Mariah uses her whistles only when musically necessary. In this song you could the feeling of elation and joy in her voice as she sang. She was actually "forced" into doing MTV unplugged because critics couldn't believe her voice and she came out the gate with Emotions!! I think they were all shoook!!!! Facts! I love that 99% of her whistles are actual lyrics (words) and not just her going "ahhhhhhh", she is the Supreme.

@@alexanderjones451 Mariah's ALWAYS had a raspy voice, but 1998 her vocals were really raspy and she was tried. Now a 1992-1994 duet would've been powerful. It's not always from Experience

Yes I totally agree! Guys, you need to go back and listen to the whole Emotions album and everything else before it. Honestly I don't listen to anything from this generation except someone like Tems. When I'm in my car, I put on old skool Mariah and Whitney

KELLY PRICE was there, RANDY JACKSON was playing bass, Walter Afanasieff was playing (he's produced Whitney, Mariah, Celine and has co-written with Mariah herself some of Mariah's biggest hits) and also the guy on the Piano is DAVID COLE ( he's passed yrs ago) from C&C Music Factory....Mariah had a dreamteam there with her!

Great Eye, Kelly Price & her sis aka The Price Sisters from BK 👊 were part of her backup Singers. Kelly was pregnant with horrible Morning sickness and was called to do a Performance as backup for a George Micheal performance. In between rehearsal she was alone playing piano and singing when Fate intervined & Mariah got to hear her. She was so impressed she offered her the Backup Gig , the rest is history. The gentleman on Piano reddish hair was the incomparable , Musician/Producer/ David Cole of the 90s famed group C&C Music Factory. He and Mariah hit it off splendidly and They Vibed so well that they collabed on a lot of her Remixes(especially the Club versions)
