Her voice was clearly tense, you can hear the raspyness, the higher she goes with her belts, the raspier and tighter the sounds get, however her breath control helps her to achieve a good sound quality, Mariah sure knows best when it comes to singing.

Ok so as someone who has taken musical training and has done audio engineering, allow me to say that yes this is live. She is singing here very well actually. Its a tough song to sing it takes alot of discipline even in a full concert. Now, the mic is well tuned and reverbed (like all mics are) hwoever it was cleaned up a bit so she could hear the stage monitors well. At least so she could hear herself in a arena and the pan outs in the camera where u could only see the backdrop is delayed making it appear “lipysnced” or out of sync. Even of she lipsynced to a prerecorded track everyone does it time to time.

The high notes are easiest for her to sing. Check out her other performances, you will now that those high notes are a walk in the park. And it will be weird switching from live singing to lip syncing in the same song.
