I don´t care if some of the performance is pre-recorded because it's still her voice at the end of the day (throwing a little shade in the direction of another pop-star) Mariah Carey is at least singing her own songs in the studio and we know that she can still sing. 🙂Mariah will always be one of my icons. She came from a family that did not have that much money and she made herself the superstar that we all know today. Without Mariah Carey we would not have the pop-stars that we have today. 🙂
From someone who has been following MC from the start of her career, my opinion is this - when she began facing vocal challenges and unpredictability with vocal range, all she needed to do was take the much-needed vocal rest, make the adjustments to her songs into the lower keys that would better suit her current voice, and be confident in the fact that she still is and always will be one of the most creative, gifted, and talented singers of all time. Remember, she is A SKILLED VOCALIST, A REAL SINGER - not an entertainer like some they refer to as "singers" today.

Not sure how young you all are... but being there in 1990 and hearing Vision of Love for the first time.... it was a revelation. There was nothing like it on the radio or on the charts. Im glad I was there! That's it. That's the post.
I think she's doing the pre-recorded vocals thing to sound consistent throughout the run of the residency. The only thing she has to work on now is to be convincing when she's miming, put some effort into it Mother! Haha
@@stmn7286Yeah, she shouldnt be so hard on herself. So many young artists lipsync parts of their songs just like she does. But of course people slander her for that even though shes been rawly singing throughout the 90’s to early 2000’s for decades. She had very little vocal rest back then so honestly people should be less rude about it.
To be fair I didn’t think she was lipping so blatantly here. It’s obvious to a degree but so much better than the old 90s vocals she used to wheel out for Hero and Without You. I agree with you though.
It is pre-recorded. I love Mariah and am a lamb but you will start to see that each recording from every night sounds exactly the same because she’s pre-recorded the whole thing. Literally the occasional ad-lib is live. You’ll also notice in all performances now (at least since the Xmas shows) she constantly looks down at the monitor which is telling her which bits to lip to. It’s unfortunate but that’s the way it is. Her voice is extremely unpredictable these days so I understand the need to do it. But it will also just keep giving haters something to hate about

You know what gets me about all this? The blindness of it all! Everyone that knows Mariah Carey knows that she hates going on tours and doing residencies, she has said it herself. The fact that her manager or her business partners would suggest such a thing as doing residencies or not stopping her from doing it gets me mad. She has to focus on what makes her happy; Like specials, writing songs and releasing new music. You can see from afar that she's sad and lipping her way through all the songs. Why not have her host a show? She's amazing at interviews. Part of a manager's job is trying to branch out people's sources of money. Happiness and health comes first for a legend!

I agree with you that it’s probably not a good idea to keep touring/doing residencies because her vocals are so unpredictable these days. Who cares if she’s using a prerecorded track. This woman has been belting in 5 octaves for 36 years. Her songs, writing, tones, melodies and runs are some of the most difficult for ANY singer to hit. Its live people. She has being doing vocal rehab. She is ysing her front resonators instead, she is singing closer to the climax of We belong tigether BET Bluprint where you could feel the squeals in the nose, her larynx is a nit higher and it does not sound pre-recorded at all, I dont know why people are getting confused she is releasing that chestier sound as she has done in the past she is learning again to sing in a different voice and that whistle is as luve as it can be. I mean she pulls her lips back completely showing her teeth, the movement of the jaw is very exact, she is shortening the vocal tract because higher brighter notes need shorter tracts, thats why in her very lows she purses her lips, is called technique, when lipping a whistle sometimes she only open her mouth but not here (FYI the run in the whistle does not require movement fron the mouth because whistle is a guttural sound) and listen to the last whistle she moves from the mic and volume is completely changed

Haven’t seen an artist get so much negative comments about whether or not a vocal was live. The woman has been singing since the 80’s blowing away any vocals must of us could even attempt. Give her a break, just enjoy one of these legends are still here.
I don't know why people hate Mariah so much just because at 55 her voice is not as strong as it was at 25! Don't you know that literally every part of our body slowly deteriorates as we age including the vocal cords? And on top of that she has vocal nodules. This woman has worked her ass off, been to hell and back, written produced and sung original songs, influenced the music industry during her more than 30 years career and pushed her voice to the extreme to give us some of the best vocal performances in music history during the Vision of Love to the Daydream era. Today's tiktok insta-fame generation will never understand that once upon a time you actually had to hustle, work and pray for a break like walking the streets of New York with a cassette tape of your personal collection of original songs knocking on doors of record companies trying to get them to listen to your music. I take pride in Mariah singing this song live forever (never lipped since 1990), this would mean no one I mean no one can touch this song but her. “Sounds better than your favorite artist” is a very ignorant go to. Especially when we know Mariah has declined, she is lip syncing, and there’s several artist of the past 20 years that sing better than her. It’s ok to be a fan of someone and be open minded and up front about them at the same time.
