Ugh what an icon! This is such a great performance featuring some beautiful, warm belts, some very characteristic runs where she uses different timbres like darkness, and a lot of strength and gorgeous tone. This song is another classic power ballad of hers, one with a lot of room to show off her voice.
I am a jazz/R&B vocalist, baritone saxophone player, music educator, and vocal coach local to New Orleans. I have two degrees in jazz/music education and work professionally playing music. Thank you for all the support on these videos! It is such a joy to create educational, entertaining content for you. 8:13 Kelly Price, who used to sing background vocals for Mariah back in 1993, told a story on Terrell’s RU-vid on how Mariah was the one who taught her to add H’s in front of words when singing to add those breathiness for contrast in a song.. ❤

Mariah’s „flying hands“ are legendary. Thanks for bringing that gem back to us. Only 30 years later we can really acknowledge how great the early 90ies were, with Mariah and Whitney. Omggg... This was soo.. HILARIOUS!!.. Yaaay.. Brian with the Wipee Rescue!!.. haa.. BUT...Mariah is the "Queen"of female performers who can sing in a Lower Register.. which is hard for a female to do and sound as great!!.. I totally understand about taking 3 showers a Day! I mega agree with you about that specific type of run you mentioned just hitting different lol its for real. I was wondering if you could react to Anastacia singing Not That Kind at top of the pops, as a non singer I've always been very intrigued about her singing voice and how she manages to mantain that sound she has so consistently through a whole performance and also through the years. Bit of a niche artist but she's pretty big in Europe, maybe worth checking her out, I'd definitely be interested hearing what you think of her singing.

All said she lost it but she doesnt i dont know but she still sounds like the 90s she never lost her voice yes all singers use Playback or lip sometimes but sometimes she have to and sometimes she was resting try not to talk she has been using lip 1997 1998 1999 2000 2001 2003 2005 2009 2016 2017 there she used the most but Not anymore
