@@vocaleditz9483 how dare you don't recognize our Queen SoHyang. that's definitely her! She did a lot of plastic surgery. Just listen to her angelic vocal cord ringing.
EXO main vocals are not just top tiers in KPop but also in the whole music industry. South Korea should promote these men more than the heavily autotuned artists. These people should represent Kpop globally.
My only solace is that EXO despite not being as popular as they should, which is frustrating, they're still iconic, and honestly that's better than trendy, because people still cover and sing and hold their songs from ten years ago to the same standard they did back then, and that's the kind of legacy any singer should want to leave.
South Korea didn't promoted any group darling!! Its because the people around the world likes the music and the message of particular group more than exo. That's why. It doesn't mean that a group with powerful vocal technique should be more successful and popular. It has so many other factor not just auto tune baby! Keep crying 😁
@@vaneesavan2239 you say it as if the general public can be trusted with anything, the majority of popular acts are dumbed and watered down for the average ear consumption, the public isn't a judge of quality, never has been, otherwise explain why Cardi B is famous, or why Charlie Puth songs go viral, or why Kolleen Hover books sell like hot cake, or why scammer influencers and health guru crooks have coveted spots in the mainstream, the message? What message honey, last time I checked Korean wasn't the lingua franca, the most famous kpop song is Gangnam style, and what a message that is right? One last thing, fame isn't flex, what's trendy five years ago fizzles like sea froth, it's about being iconic and respected, with a legacy that will outlive your career. EXO just wins the quality contest, and if you're so pressed about it you're coping, then maybe you're the one crying and malding. Note: Korea does promote groups, it's literally one of their ways of pulling tourist revenue.
BTS have Jungkook, Jin and Taehyung who have beautiful voices and Jungkook has good technique. Blackpink has Jisoo and Rosé and Rosé vocals have improved so much. But New Jeans have really bad vocals and deserves the worst.
As EXO-L, I always feel proud of being chosen for a group as talented as EXO... The Vocal Line, Chen, D.O., and Baekhyun their voices are always evolving and they always impress us with their vocals.
I dont really see voices from around the world, it's literally only north america, UK and South Korea and there is not much shown through history actually... But great video either way.
@me9981 ok but those 3 places listed are from around the world. It's not every single country but I don't think reasonable people expect that. Also it literally covers decades; that Aretha Franklin clip was before we even invented color. This is above and beyond what most would research. So you're right; the video is great😊
I really hope one day Chen get an chance to collab with great western singer . Chen's low range is so good . He can try many genres Every one Chen will release his debut japanese album Polaris on Aug 17 already 5 tracks are prereleaed, his low ,mix register shine so much there with rock, jazz, blue , ballad songs .
Oh boy… it’s been decades since I’ve listened to the west which is telling. The only group that stimulated and tingles my earbuds and brain cells for several years now has been EXO. They bring different flavors of genres, have a nostalgic retro feel and move me to earthquakes tears. Genuineness is key.
Thank you for including some generally great singers in the red categories - technique isn't something you have, it's something you use and even very good singers can have off days, decline due to various factors or just be reaching for a note they can't support yet.
Thank you for SM artists or ex SM to save the green notes of so many clips put here. You have Baekhyun, Chen, luna,Seulgi,Taeyon,Taeil,DO. Well nice to know people especially western people still appreciate vocals rather than just popular songs
he's easily one of the most talented singers in kpop by a MILE, he has amazing, solid technique and literally never disappoints, we love seungkwan in this household
I especially love his falsetto on SVT songs. Always sounds so good & elevates the song. I keep saying his talent is as high as his cheekbones! Love him.
I recently found Faouzia because of a video you made maybe 2 years ago. I absolutely fell in love with her style her amazingly passionate way of singing. I heard she's self-taught as well which is really inspiring, so thank you for that
A few things I love about this video 1. 5:44 Taeyeon did that while she was sick, I believe? I live>>> 2. The captions for Fergie and Colleen 💀 Nice vid! I would have liked maybe a detailed explanation for what you consider great as a standard to measure against, although for the trained ear, one can infer for the most part what you are looking for. I also kind of wanted more of the greats throughout, maybe as like an “excellent” category. Other than that, nice comparisons 👍🏽
@@lovelickyx uhm nooo, I meant that SME's artists can even beat [some] international artist. But that doesn't mean International artist are the standard for singing. I just simply meant that they can even beat though those some famous international artists since hollywood has been known worldwide and KPOP groups are still rising internationally especially on western countries - I hope you get my point 😅 My grammar isn't that good and English is not my native language 😅
@lovelickyx western artists are the standard though. US has the biggest and most global music industry and US labels make up 68% of the music recording market. Therefore it's only natural that everyone else is compared to top American artists, regardless of whether or not they're better technically.
That Beyoncé belt was so powerful and satisfying. Same as the first Leona and Mariah Carey one. Oh yeah, can’t finish a great belting video without that Whitney belt!
First time on the channel and I am so happy to see so many Western and K-pop artists in this video. Notably Luna and at the end my all time favourite Sohyang. I was lucky to see Sohyang live at a concert in Seoul in 2022 and I do not think I will ever forget this experience.
Adam Lambert is (technically) the best singer I've ever seen live. His vocal versatility is unmatched! He is a classically trained vocalist and is known with an exceptional ability to control the entire vocal register who is just insane. Adam's textbook vocal mix, his powerful full voice, timbre and extension with a perfect register change and qualities high notes are remarkable. He combines the Head Voice to the Falsetto without any detachment. And more -I love his the story telling ability to make one feel raw emotion. That note G4 е твърде скромна за възможностите на Адам. His voice is fuller and richer in the high notes. Nobody can do riffs and overdrive like him. Significant High Notes: B5 ("Aftermath" cut vocal stem, "Things I Didn't Say") B♭5 ("Play That Funky Music" on American Idol) A5 ( "Crawl Thru Fire" live at the Zodiac Show) G♯5 ( "Time for Miracles") F5 ("We Are the Champions" various live performances Е5 ("The Show Must Go On" various live performances E♭5 ("Somebody to Love" various live performances D5 ( "Believe","I Was Born to Love You" various live performances, "If I Had You", "Lucy"...
@@BePostitive I don't think he said it that way, but in a 2019 tweet he praised her stunning vocals in a TV performance, and she was touched that it was coming from a vocalist like him. Adam is very kind and supportive to his colleagues. He and Tori know each other and have worked together in a studio.
@@diananik7953 I have seen it in one of his insta stories before, also he called her performance in billboards music awards the performance of the night, I don't remember the exact year though
@@BePostitive Yes, that's his tweet from 2016 when the two of them attended Clive Davis' Grammy party. He is so kind and has praised Tori at other times. But this is coming from someone who has been dubbed by music legends a"Gift from God" and "One voice in a billion" Here's the music guild's assessment of Adam's vocal abilities. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nB_vnT3S8bU.html
Crying cause Wendy clips is her in a radio station with minus one instrumental and the other one is her warming up her vocals in a dance studio 😭 thank God for those cause sm doesn't really let her have live performances
Gracias por incluir la línea vocal de EXO, (son increíblemente buenos) y demás cantantes surcoreanos, pero siento que faltó mencionar a Adele es excelente cantante. Buena música, buenos cantantes. Gracias por tu vídeo.
One can generally reach a note if they try enough, but without proper technique (like the good ones in this video), the singers are gonna be regretting that choice sooner or later. It's far too easy to damage vocal chords or develop nodules and have to remove them surgically (which can greatly affect your capacity as a vocalist).
From Fergie appearing twice 4:00 & 4:28 to JLo and Mariah for the same note 7:10 & 7:27 to that shady Colleen as "Sohyang" (So-yang) at 9:18 This video had me rolling like a fish 😅 The examples were spot on! Would love to hear your take on Halle's new song "Angel", plus if you ever do another video about duets, you should definitely check out Andra Day and Ellie Goulding's Grammy performance. I wonder who signed off on that duet because 😬
I still think Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston are the best singers in the entire industry. My favorite singers (of my generation) like them too. That's how you can tell they are legendary. If your idol idolizes them, they're definitely legendary.
ABSOLUTELY the others are all great singers, some are even better belters but these 2 ladies (and Celine) just have something so original about their voices and styles, it just sets them aparts in a league of their own. Legend status
Hi !! First of all, I love that you included Lara Fabian, my favourite singer. On all your choices for the notes, the "bad" ones do sound indeed less good than the decent ones, who themselves sound less good than the great ones. But I don't really agree on all the "bad" examples. Some of them were painful to hear, but some were actually good (not great) in my opinion. I think it's because of the tone and sometimes distortion on some of them that you might say it's bad, but I believe it is a stylistic choice to sacrifice some technique for getting out a specific kind of sound.
no, I won't forgive you for making us hear Fergie's performance again lol but it was a great video! you was shady for putting Jennifer against Mariah lmao
I honestly never expected to see scott or any of ptx in here so besides all the kpop stuff (which i'm also into) this video was a very pleasant surprise :)
Separating out those who are bad just based on pitch accuracy is one thing but another major component is musicality and artistry. It might be technically impressive to belt a certain note but if it doesn't fit the song, serve the song, convey the story or emotions of the song the singer has misplaced their efforts. One that stood out to me here was Jenifer Hudson, from what I heard she was singing a Christmas song no less, and in a vocal group. Instead of harmonising with the other singers, she just holds a straight sustained belt note over the top of what the other singers are doing. She might have done a good job holding the note, but as a musical piece together it sounded like shit. There's more to music that holding notes.
Just JHud JHudding. More often than not she tends to do too much. Edit: I'm looking for that performance tho. Anything with Pentatonix is a Yes for me, so I need to watch it.
It's curious/interesting, I feel like the great and bad belts are pretty consistent and objectively bad or great but the decent ones can be very inconsistent. Some are about as good as the great ones, some aren't much better than some bad ones.
I tried to organise them in a way that you could hear the gradation of technique But not all bad ones are are equally bad, not all decent ones are equally decent and not all great ones are equally great I guess Thank you for watching!
@@aintnootherfansure that’s understandable but I meant like within the same notes sometimes as well there wasn’t much of a difference. Like one or two times. Btw could you respond to that other comment I made in the video where you tagged me?
@aintnootherfan The decent notes are just extremely inconsistent (AND some great notes are actually bad lmao). You got to realize that putting Rosé's B4 and JoJo's D5 in the same category makes 0 sense.
This made me realize that I sometimes prefer "decent" belting to "great" belting, i.e. when the "great" one sounds a little TOO well supported and effortless, whilst the "decent" one sometimes has juuust a little more of that tasteful strain and struggling, almost sounding more stylistic and without crossing over to being bad / unsupported.
@@ArielthelittleFISHi wasn't really thinking of "sharp sounds" at all, more like a healthier kind of strain / "intentional" strain if that makes sense. i also love me some falsetto
@@БогданЗелинский-ю9з Besides the pitch, since you can't hear yourself you try to sound as loud as possible, eventually puts a lot of strain and end up with a sore throat.
