I get goosebumps and almost want to tear up when listening to some of those def mix remixes from the mid to late 90s. David and Frankie were definitely inspired by a divine presence.
I was curious too. David's mix of Janet's "Got Til' It's Gone" is playing in the background while he is saying this, so I assume it's that. Janet did not re-record vocals for his mix, so he had to use the original vocals. Not an easy track to turn into a dance mix based on what we got from him, Armand Van Helden and Soul Solution at the time. David's mix of "Throb" is legendary though. He managed to make interesting dance mixes out of "The Roof" and "Say Somethin" without MC re-recording. All depends on what they are working with.
@@thomasknight3002 Thanks for the insight! I'm gonna still try to find that interview somewhere online. I've always loved when artists re-recorded vocals for remixes, I started playlist with some of them that I need to update. Since I pretty much know all of Mariah's released re-recorded remixes, I'll turn my attention to Janet. I only know of her re-recorded hip-hop and r&b remixes of "Together Again." And yes I love the production David did with his dance mixes of "The Roof." I do wish Mariah would've partially re-recorded vocals for the remixes like she did with David's dance mixes of "My All." I love Mariah & Kelly Price's backgrounds on "The Roof" their voices always blended so well together but this time is even more magical because they stacked the vocals so tight, sometimes idk who was singing certain parts. I know that was also the last time Kelly worked for Mariah as her background vocalist, so Kelly probably wouldn't have returned to re-recorded any vocals, I think Mariah could've probably sung some new ad lids at the end of the dance mixes & called it a day lol. Mariah actually re-recorded her vocals for David's dance mixes of "Say Somethin'" which I love as well.
