When I first heard this I was taking a nap on the sofa and the TV was on....i awoke to this heavenly voice. I remember grabbing a sharpie and writing her name on the white wall so I could remember her unusual name and buy her record. The rest is history. I've been a fan (LAMB) ever since.
@@Kristoff2005 that and so much more than that; an intricate web of essence and identity that no one could simply replicate. Often imitated, never duplicated.
30 years ago, Mariah Carey released her debut single, “Vision Of Love.” The track received both critical acclaim and commercial success, hitting #1 in Canada, New Zealand & the US. It launched the career of one of the most iconic and best-selling artists in music history.
They thought Mariah would be one of those also-ran singers who wouldn't be around for much longer than her debut. Little did they know Mariah wasn't any of those basic ladies...
Nah, they knew back then once she came out that she was gonna be a lasting legend!!! Everyone saw it, and said it loud and proud....how couldnt you ,it was undeniable

This is only a year into her career? Wtf that’s crazy. We barely even see that happening today with most artists now that we have social media ,but our queen Mimi did that.
She debuted in 1990 but yeah, her first era and she got Oprah praising her and her debut album like she was a Superstar from the 80s. Mariah's legacy is insane and to this day she's talented as fuck.
It's so weird to hear Oprah say things like "One of the greatest bodies!" , like it's the most important part... Also amazing how far society still has to go before that actually isn't important at all.
This performance gives me a brain orgasm. I've been looking for a high quality version of this for years! Thank you! Just posted an alternate version of Anytime You Need a Friend. I don't think it was ever used? Studio version. Found it from 20 years ago, backed up on my computer.
@@Sttephy30 Ta hell with Y'all both. SNL in 1990 was the ABSOLUTE best live performance of this song. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vAv701opU9E.html&start_radio=1
@LambilyXDaydream her f5 here is better than arsenio 1991 vision of love and i prefer the E5's here than arsenio. Only the whistle is so much better at arsenio. But I think her best vision of love has to be like london 1996. Her F#5 there are better even than madison square garden 1995 vision of love
Amy Grant was like... I have to go on after THAT??? I'm surprised that she didn't just go home. Everybody should've just gone home after that performance. Mariah blew the roof and the walls off of that place
This is my favorite performance of VOL ...it’s just something about her presence and her smiles and how happy she looks... and while she did nail it...she kind of relaxed it... it’s just..wow
Before Mariah and Whitney there wasn't anyone who did these amazing things with their voice. They invented this style that many have tried to emulate since but nobody has really been able to capture it they way they did. It's great to watch her in her prime being able to hit all the notes and all the runs and not later when her voice had lost that ability. This was incredible.
I remember watching this live right after school 10th grade! Love it! Loved this beauty with the most ridiculously amazing voice since Whitney Houston!!!!!
@@truthserum8086 Paula killed it with dance and Janet is a decent singer and iconic performer so yes you had to be able 2 sing or kill it with dance that's it
@@Kabeyavictoria You said come out, stand there and SANG. And many didn't HAVE to do that. Madonna is another one, Mili Vanilli are another act... Diana Ross is another one.
@@truthserum8086 You're talking about ppl that dance as much as sang and Diana wasn't a powerhouse sanger. Whitney just STOOD and sang and she could out sang everyone you named!
This Queen really stood the test of time and have showcased a loooot of her vocal techniques and experiment her self with diff genres which all were successful! We can't deny that she is a living LEGEND, an ICON and most of all an INFLUENCE to these new breed of singers in this generation. Superb singer, amazzzing songwriter and a humor which I found really cool :)
That agility😭 then she proceeds with those belts with no stress and that insane tune at the end not too fast not too slow , she is a vocal genius especially that time
_Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present the best selling female artist of all time. Flash forward twenty eight years, and nineteen (yeah, 19) number one singles! The look on Oprah's face is undeniable! Greatness in the making.🦋_
@@antinoocp _Madonna's career eclipses MCs by eight solid years. Mariah has had more number one singles than any other solo artist on the planet. Has Madonna sold more records, probably? How many Diamond albums does Madge have? Who has more streams on all social media platforms(Mariah). Who is a better singer? Mariah obviously. Who is(okay was) the better stage performer(probably Madonna). Look Madonna was a big part of my young life, but Mariah was/and still is a bigger part of my adult life._
Simply amazing & she was at her most beautiful prime moments. There was a sweet innocence about her at 21 just starting out and no idea what was ahead of her. KUDOS MC ... incredibly done
What amazed me the most about mimi is her gift on songwriting I mean cmon this type of song will be collaborated by two or more people but she made it by herself which is underrated and slightly appreciated but for me her songwriting skills is amazing even up to this date. Her music catalogue is so good and still the best even her caution album
