Take me back to the 90s. Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Toni Braxton along with Celine Dion were the vocal elite especially Whitney being the Voice. Just knowing that Mariah Carey ruled the 90s as artist of the decade considering that the 90s was the most competitive decade in music history blows my mind. Janet Jackson was #2, Whitney Houston #3, Boys To Men #4, Celine Dion #5 with Madonna being #6, TLC #7, Toni Braxton #8 and Garth Brooks and Michael Bolton #9 and #10. On top of this, Michael Jackson, Brandy Norwood, Britney Spears, Alanis Morrisette, Shawnia Twain, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC and Destiny's Child had blockbuster success globally and didn't even reach the top 10 makes me appreciate Mariah's Carey success. Mariah Carey is the definition of a legend.

Movies/music/trend lol I believe Whitney H is the best female artist of all time, voice wise etc. One the Boys2Men singers voices will give them all a run for there money lol. Mariah was so popular in the 90's. Her song Someday was the first one I ever heard. Her song Hero got me through some tough times when I ran away from home and felt alone. Watching her merge into different styles and losing that innocent look was a big part of my teenage years. Respect to her. She has been a lot behind closed doors.

I'm not totally convinced this is completely live. Sounds like she's singing over a track. Notice her own backing vocals. And the choir on background vocals that doesn't appear to be present in this video. Plus, I have this CD & this performance sounds just like the original recording.

I think she cried as a little girl because that's when she must have first heard this beautiful song by Harry Nilsson, who was doing a cover of this Badfinger song. The song became really popular because of Nilsson's powerful voice. Mariah added some of her unique runs to it. It's about a breakup.

This song was written by..Pete Ham and Tom Evans. Mariah.. referenced a song that made her cry..when she was little. She was referring to Harry Nilsson performing this song..originally. Was not about any of her romances. She was paying tribute to a Singer that inspired her.. emotionally.

This is a cover song, Mariah didn't write it so she can't speak to the "boyfriend" thing. Originally done by Harry Nilsson. She was still married to Tommy Motolla at this time. She liked this song because her mother used to sing it to her when she was a child so she decided to cover it on this album.
This is not actually her song but she sang it with so much emotion you'd never know it. She might have related with the lyrics personally but she didn't write them.
