FILM DESCRIPTION:
An Austrian teenager (Kirsten Dunst) marries the Dauphin (Jason Schwartzman) of France and becomes that country's queen following the death of King Louis XV (Judy Davis) in 1774. Years later, after a life of luxury and privilege, Marie Antoinette loses her head during the French Revolution.

Hunger, poverty makes people feel rage. Politicians took advantige of that. Royals were sacrificed. Nobility as well.

You get it wrong. The French Revolution was started by the Bourgeoisie, not by the poor underclasses. The real poors are too crushed to actually start anything.

Watching this, all I can think of is how frightened those children must have been. And then their whole world was turned upside down and their family taken from them. I can’t even imagine the trauma. And as a mother, it is overwhelming to think what horrible thoughts must have been coursing through Marie’s mind at this time.

Although she was in the wrong for what she did. Nevertheless, she is a human being who quite frankly didn’t the skill and was so young to ruled a country. Even when she tried, it was too late, those who are too young to understand or even to have power shouldn’t be in control. I believe she should be punish but also to view her as a monster is by far from the truth. And the sad part about it, the her children have to suffer from the deaths of both parents and being torture by the people of France, in they should not be punish.

I agree, but even their 💂‍♀️ guards men were scared too which is why they didn't do anything, they feared for their lives. This was such a scary situation to be put in!

I agree but Marie Antoinette was a spacegoat and her husband was too young and naive and followed his counselors/nobelmen. Her death was cruel, everything they did to her, separating a mother of her children was in no mean justified

kinda hard for me to feel bad for royals in this position. people and their children were starving to death meanwhile these people are living it up without a care in the world. can't blame anyone for feeling enraged

The starving were offered a good supply of potatoes as an alternative to grain, but they turned it down because of their silly superstitious beliefs.

It's a bourgeois revolution, not a peasants one. The first revolutionnaries of 1789 are probably as wealthy or even more so than the nobles.

I’ll forever ask why didn’t they just leave when they had the chance too? They COULDVE. They tried but Antoinette wanted to stay with Louis and they got caught as the journey was slower with all of them in one carriage. Why just why. They could’ve saved themselves but LOUIS XVI was selfish and wanted to stay so Antoinette stayed.

Off to the guillotine for Marie Antoinette. Not to mention that a Turkish angora kitten was named after her, contaminated by the dark side of movies & tv shows in the 1970’s. (What I mean by that, is yen-sid. And I’m sure you know what that means spelled backwards).

So much she could have actually said in that moment that could have saved so many innocent lives. What was done was done but they never actually reached out to the people their lives depended on, not by speaking or by actions ❤️‍🩹
