The charming Château de Bagatelle in Paris was built as a result of a famous bet in 1777 between Marie-Antoinette and her brother-in-law, the Count of Artois. The château was the last royal residence built before the revolution, and prior to being purchased in 1905 by the City of Paris, passed through the hands of many famous owners and also played host to royal engagements. It is famously known as one of Marie Antoinette's 'party palaces.'
Marie-Antoinette bet her brother-in-law, the Count of Artois, that he could not transform the former hunting lodge into a beautiful chateau in under 100 days. He did so in just 64, winning the bet and launching its storied legacy. Before it was purchased by the City of Paris in 1905, the chateau passed through the hands of many famous owners (from Napoleon to Sir Richard Wallace). It may not be Marie Antoinette’s house, but she famously partied here.
The above video is a teaser for a live event created in partnership with Bank of America. The full-length Virtual Experience took place live on September 22, 2022, and for an in-depth program description, visit our website: indagare.com/list?tag=boa-vir.... The recording for the complete show is available to Diamond Honors tier members of Bank of America; email us at virtual.experiences@indagare.com if you think you might qualify.

I am so glad France has sense enough to preserve these beautiful places. In the USA they would be turned into crackerbox subdivisions.

they have everything and they have nothing.. they should be ashamed. In the Netherlands you pay 1000 euro for a 10 sqaure meter room without sanitary facilities.... the poor people now have less luxury than the slaves at the chateau at that time.. most rich people nowadays get rich from squeezing poor people ...llike the did in the middleages till begin 1900's .. . they are in a good position themselves and those who work for them live for 1000 euros a month in a room of 10 square meters ......... .. so that the money they earn keeps coming back to the rich in a circle... the poor become poor, the rich become richer by squeezing poor people. remember that when you watch this video. And as much as I appreciate that old buildings are being restored, this does not have to be at the expense of the poorest in this world. People like this don't know anything about the value of money..........

The house was built by the Comte d' Artois (future King Charles X), for his personal use. Aside from making him the bet, Marie-Antoinette had nothing to do with this place.

Oh, sure, the house has potential but the desiccated and unsightly lawns are a real turnoff. Knock off a million euros from the asking price and we’ll talk. 😏

The lawns are desiccated because of extremely dry weather the past year or two.

@@danielomalley4394 That is often the way with dry weather and lawns. We address the issue with sprinklers if we can be bothered.
