This lady is truly a miracle. I saw and heard her live a number of times in the 1990s in London and it was unbelievable. The fact that she's nearly 72 and she can still sing like this is testament to her extraordinary technique and skills honed over the decades. Recordings never do her justice. When you hear her live, for me, it was life changing. You can't believe that something like this is actually possible. The voice is non-directional, it seems to come from all around you, and it is so well focused, resonated and projected, it's an overwhelming effect within your ears! Anyone who says she has a small voice doesn't know what they are talking about, it's huge and completely fills the space around you. It was one of the great privileges of my life to hear her and I hope she continues for many more years.
Cannot get over this vocal jewel! Love her body movements, which frees the diaphragm, perfect thrill and spring boarding. This is a cathartic vocal experience, a keep pressing the “repeat button”, and a tremendous teaching tour de force for me! Screaming “brava” doesn’t even begin to cut it! May she be blessed a trillion fold!
She is the “Gold Standard” for lyric coloratura and coloratura sopranos”! They should all see and listen to this terrific, didactic rendition of this aria in every sense of the word! La Devia is truly, beyond any glimmer of doubt: “La Virtuosa”!!!
