Fantastic.. Wonderful piece of music. The greatest moment of possibly the greatest album from that era. The body language on stage shows that they're in trouble though. I saw them 3 times on the early '88 UK Tour and you could tell that there were problems then. No interaction between Fish and the other 4 at all. It's a shame that they weren't allowed a bit of time away from each other to work things out instead of it ending so messily. "Auf wiedersehen" indeed.
The progressive, exceptionally Marillion penetrate deep inside your sentiments. The connection that songs from Misplaced Childhood explores this very well, both lyrical and melodic which makes the album simply magical, a masterpiece of the art in general. H is a good singer, but unfortunately he will never do it. By the way, sorry for the poor english guys. Thanks Marillion!
Had Fish stayed with Marillion he may have ended up just another statistic in the music world; along the likes of Jim Morrison. Much of Fish-era Marillion was already written and put on "Seasons End"...listen to "Berlin" for example; this was originally titled "Story From A Thin Wall" with Fish singing. Snippets of "Beaujolais Day" were on Fish's track "Fortunes of War".
