Jordan, you have out did yourself! I love it when you talk about Shelley and Marilyn! They were good friends and so young! I could listen to you tell stories, all day long! Shelley was a generous person! A gentleman friend of mine met Shelley years ago and she still had a cocktail table of Marilyn's! He still lives in Hollywood and he bought it from her!

So fun to see the apartment and hear these stories! Many thanks! I'm a big fan of both ladies. I've seen many actors being interviewed about Marilyn but I was always struck by Shelley's stories and how they reflected upon her character. Unlike a lot of other actors/actresses, I never saw Shelley in an interview speak in a condescending way about Marilyn and she seemed to have fond memories of the fun times they had together. She didn't paint Marilyn as unintelligent or tragic. Shelley seemed secure in who she was. You are so lucky to have had a friendship with her.

Enjoyed seeing where Shelley and Marilyn lived together and hearing about their time together. They were both a lot smarter than most people probably thought. Love hearing your stories about your friendship with Shelley and all the things she got to talk to you about. It’s so nice that the two of you got to have such a beautiful friendship. When Shelley and Marilyn were roommates in this apartment, Shelley said that one day she had to step out and asked Marilyn to "wash the lettuce" for a salad they were to share for dinner. When she got back to the apartment, Marilyn (apparently new to the art of cooking) had the leaves of lettuce in a small tub of soapy water and was scrubbing them clean.

I highly doubt it, Marilyn was brought up in an Orphanage and would have no doubt been ordered to do kitchen duties because of her gender. Stories like this just buy into the dumb blonde hype, which we all now know to be ridiculously false. Nice anecdote, but ultimately quite nasty in it's delivery. Marilyn was never that stupid and young girls from Orphanages were raised to be nothing more than household slaves... I meant maids. Many woman left these places, with only the clothes they had on and were indoctrinated into a life of subjugation. We should celebrate Marilyn for having the strength and fortitude for rising above this, instead of ridiculing her for it.

Movies have been made about how miserable Marilyn supposedly was, this is proof that even through the difficulties she also enjoyed her life, she just wanted to live and have an acting career on her own terms, but maybe relied on the wrong people for support. I'm glad Shelley was one of the few people who showed true kindness, support and friendship to Marilyn and that you get to share such cool stories with us directly from Shelley, may she and Marilyn be reunited in heaven.

Marilyn was such a simple girl at heart, I think she would have swapped all her stardom to have had a home, a husband and children. Nearly 58 years after her death she is still an icon and still making people happy, but her own life was so sad.

Love all the old Hollywood vlogs u do. A Place in the Sun was a classic, but Shelley Winters was only nominated for that role. (Which she was amazing in) She won best supporting for A Patch of Blue and The Diary of Anne Frank. The pic of her with the Oscar is from one of the other movies.
