I still remember her concert at the old Wembley Stadium in '87. It rained for hours and everybody was soaking wet. And then Marina came out on stage and tore the place down completly. Those 2 1/2 hours were magical.
I wish I could been in a high school prom... I left the school when my lovely girlfriend get sick I had to move to Miami cause a friend told me that there I can make a lot of money. He doesn't lied but wasn't the best way to make greens
@@uncanalfantasma6104 I feel for you, bro/girl. Covid stole away my senior prom, and the best I ever got was a tiny "ball" at private school before I ever went to high school. To have been born in the 70s to grow into adulthood in the 80s would have been a dream
Marina Lambrini Diamandis also known as Marina and The Diamonds, was born 1969 in United Kingdom. This along wit her big hit "Bubblegum B*tch" in the same album was a smash hit and won a Grammy in 1986 only being 17 at the time. She had also released "Oh No!" and "I Am Not A Robot." 2 years earlier which created controversy around her making her more of a small new singer and not getting recognized when she was younger. In the following years she had won Grammy's through the late 80's with "Froot" adding more disco styles into it and after her last album "Love + Fear" being released in 1990. She had gone missing on a Yacht and hasn't been publicly seen since 1993. Some say that she had died from an coke Overdose and the Yacht was a mislead for her death. But we were never really sure.
Her death was always a mystery... how does such a big popstar go missing on a Yacht? That's not mentioning how they never buried her body, or held a funeral!
I read somewhere that her hair FELL OUT during this photo shoot. The platinum blonde dye job caused so much breakage that she inevitably had to chop it and wear a blonde wig until it grew back.
This song and the spiked punch at Elmer Heights prom, she was thee 80s diva! Marina INVENTED shoulder pads and the saying “the higher the hair, the closer to God”. God bless her.
Gosh it feels like I listened to this song for the first time. Me and boyfriend we driving around town since there isn't much to do in a small town like we lived in. It seems like he must have been planning on this song playing it, because when she said "get down on your knee for me" he responded with "well its a bit hard to that in a car but ill try" and he got up on his seat and proposed. I had to pull the car over since I was getting teary eyed. Been married 38 years and going now.
Meowfsy the most annoying thing about Spotify is that it’s not available in my country:( and I can’t tell if I have the rights to upload remixes to such platforms without them being constantly deleted by owners (acapella, track stems/instrumentals - all of this belong to WMG/ Marina’s label in this particular case)
@@meowfsy4224 Proxy services can help, and there are other sites fo selling songs. The main is to deal about copyright... Huge RU-vid cover singers do it someway however.
This is one of those songs I discover, instantly fall in love with, and listen to it so much in such a short amount of time that I get sick of it. Worth it.
Me: *listens to the same 5 songs* Me: I wanna listen to something new. RU-vid: Here's this new mash up Me: *ignores it because I haven't heard those songs, and clicks on one of the same 5 songs* Me: Something new...
Oh, to be in an 80s roller skating rink. I feel nostalgia for a decade I was never born in. How much happier would I, would we all be, just being born a decade ago? The plagues of social media and device addiction, the scourge of hearing everybody's nasty thoughts held behind an anonymous veil, the core of our society's values and beliefs, even beauty, now all clash against each other and bring any foundation to a crumble. Living life like I'm in a play.
